Austin Game Conferences

Is anyone else headed over there (Oct. 26-28)? I have booked a suite from Tuesday night through Friday night, and I'd be happy to host a GarageGames get-together.
Secondarily, I'm looking to split the suite if anyone wants to split costs. There is a room with a king sized bed and a living room with a pull-out sofa.
Hope to see you there!

Torque Boot Camp--Indie Style just ended today...in fact, Tom is still here in Eugene (and I'm about to go crash for about 44 hours after IGC and TBC back to back!).

Like Stephen said, the boot camp just ended today. I don't think a GG meeting has really been organized for the Austin Game Conference yet, but several people I talked with at the IGC were interested. I know the IGDA Indie SIG is going to be getting togther, unfortunately I get that email at work so I will have to post the info when I get home. I don't know if the Austin Game Developers are going to have a get together yet.

I can drive up to Austin to meet fellow GG's anytime let me know. I used to work at Motorola on Ed Bluestein, I drove there everyday for 8 months. Almost moved there too but I got another DoD job back in San Antonio. Anyway just to qualify me as knowing the town. I have a big place in my heart for Austin. The only thing interesting to me at this conference is the DX10 and shader related topics so I don't know if i'll attend it.

Anyone want to organize a time/location? Failing that, we could at least exchange e-mail addresses and get cell phone numbers one on one. I'll mostly be covering the Game Writing Conference. I'll also be chained to the IGDA Writer's SIG booth during most of the lunches and breaks, but I need stuff to do in the evenings!- Beth

The Mayor here (Austin) has been giving out invitations to game developers for a gathering on the 28th at 6pm. Its to honor the game industry in Austin. I may try to go....

Hey Davey, I hollared your name while our crew was up on the upper floor. You looked around confused. I was above the trellace thing. We all headed out to a "pirate" bar afterwards (it was piratey on the outside, but deceiving, there was no pirate music on the inside).

I ran into Davey and Jay briefly, but that's all I could find while I was there. I was dashing around with the IGDA Writers SIG for the most part.Hey Davey, I hollared your name while our crew was up on the upper floor. You looked around confused. I was above the trellace thing. After being 45 mins late for the meeting we checked with an AGC rep that I had luckily made friends with. She checked on the jerk's whereabouts, whereupon he gave her his card, cancelled the meeting and totally wrote us off.
I found him conversing on the show floor, politely interrupted his meeting and gave him our materials. Later he arranged a phone conversation where he told us he had no idea what he had agreed to and that they werent interested in MMOs. He's since apologized again and said he'd like to see what we have when we have something playable, but Im really pissed with the whole affair.
Needless to say I probably wont go again next year.

I was actually very disappointed with the AGC. We submitted a "LivePitch" design overview which we got a reply for from a LARGE company that will remain nameless. The person who was to see us is/was a decently important rep of noteworthy name. After being 45 mins late for the meeting we checked with an AGC rep that I had luckily made friends with. She checked on the jerk's whereabouts, whereupon he gave her his card, cancelled the meeting and totally wrote us off.
