This is really funny to read now. Especially the comments from the naysayers.

Uh... Ha.

Well because we all know it's possible to port to the XBox or even XBox360, unlike that thread, where everyone was putting down people with "that crazy notion" of designing an independent game on a console.Uh... Ha.

Only if our ancestors from early 2004 knew of the technological advancements we have today. They were nothing more than primative barbarians eating burgers with their hands and playing games with their wired controllers.-Ajari-

But the point Jeff made is still valid ;)

Maybe in the future console development barriers will drop down to Indie levels, but for now it doesn't appear to be much of an option. The best bet is to make your game, design it for a console-like environment (controls, size footprint, gameplay style), and if it works as a game on the PC, attract a producer that can front the rest of the development barrier costs and press on from there.

Yes it is, and quite honestly the XBox platform layer for Torque isn't really priced for Indies, mostly due to the fact that the rest of the barriers still exist. Even if we were to price the XBox 360 platform layer at an Indie entry point, the rest of the barriers would still exist, and there isn't anything GG can do about that, so it doesn't make sense for us to try at this point.Maybe in the future console development barriers will drop down to Indie levels, but for now it doesn't appear to be much of an option. I take it that the price of a console's development kit is covered under its NDA? Bah!

Still very valid points, though it is entertaining to look back at how others viewed the concept of Torque on Xbox.

3 Years ago, if you'd told me there would be indy titles available as a download through an online arcade for a console - I'd have laughed at you. =\
Just goes to show you...

Well, while it may be a while before we start seeing independent titles packaged for the XBox and sitting on the shelf at Wal-Mart, you must admit that's it's not outside the realm of possibility.3 Years ago, if you'd told me there would be indy titles available as a download through an online arcade for a console - I'd have laughed at you. =\

Well I found it kind of weird going into the XBOX dashboard and seeing an advertisement for Think Tanks... ;)
