UnderGround tunnels with a water plane in world

I am having a problem with creating a underground tunnel in my world. I am trying to create an egyptain world that has an oasis with water at one end of the world and pyramids that connect with underground tunnels at the other end. When I take my character into the tunnels the water plane that I have for the oasis is effecting my character and making him slow down. The water plane is only big enough for the oasis area and I have the pyramid zoned off. I know that the character is slowing down do to the water being added. Can anyone help me out with this problem

I do have the tunnels as an interior to the pyramids but still when I hit the level of the water plane I slow down. Anyone have another idea or a way around my problem.

Torque seems to have alot of problems with stacking WaterBlock's. Typically, you'll find that everything is fine above the waterblock, but when you start to go "below" it (assuming it has a bottom), things start to get a bit wierd.
Whilst zoned off interiors can block off rendering, i don't think they can block off the physical effects the waterblock applies to the player.
To be absolutely certain, i would suggest digging into the WaterBlock & Player code.
