I myself had some serious trouble trying to find the docs for this. I managed to find an old site that showed the steps involved for the setup on a earlier version of the Hammer editor - but it works anyway.

So here's what you do:

Under Tools->Options go to the Game Configurations tab, create a new one... call it Torque for example.

For Game Data files add the torque.fgd that can be found in your tools\map2dif directory

And it's probably smart to have your default solid entity class to be a "portal" and your point entity class to be a "light_omni".

Now go to the Build Programs Tab, for your CSG executable, browse for your map2dif.exe

Make sure have an appropriate WAD file containing the textures you want to add to your map, and add it to the Textures tab.

Click Apply, then click OK.

Now make your map...
Save/Export as a .map file.

Now hit build (f9).
Click on the Expert button in the bottom left corner

Make a new configuration, call it whatever you want - but Torque sounds like a good name.

Add a command, click on CSG program
In Parameters, it should be Map Filename with Extension
Make sure that the box in checked under Compile/run commands. It should read "$csg_exe $path\$file.$ext", and it should be checked ;).

Hit Go!

And if everything went well - you should have a .dif in the same directory as your map file.

Hooray! ;)

It is not technically legal to use Hammer with Torque.

Valve always say yes to emails, but until they change their ELUA... just be careful.
