Player In Spot Light - What Did I Mess Up?
by David Mac · in Torque Game Engine · 08/30/2005 (8:31 am) · 7 replies
I recently cleaned out much of the fps demo content to replace it with my own original content. However; Now I get a spotlight on the ground at the characters feet radiating out about the size of the character. Beyond that, the land scape is sharply darkened a bit.
I'm sure it's a simple setting somewhere, can someone provide some suggestions on where to look or how I might fix this?
Thanx.

Sounds like a light is mounted on the player, and your sun is set with low brightness, heh.

Here is a screenie... http://www.geocities.com/scionofchaos/SpotlightScreens.jpg
I don't know if you can hot link to it or not, you may have to cut & paste.
I'll try and kick up the saturation and brightness on the detail texture.
Can you tell me which of the long string of numbers is responsible for the suns brightness? :">
Thanx for the help!

I was playing with the suns color, maybe that's it. I also substituted the stock detail texture. Here is a screenie... http://www.geocities.com/scionofchaos/SpotlightScreens.jpg

I just kicked up the Brightness on the detail terrain by +35. But it had no effect :[

It WAS the terrain detail texture, only it was already too bright. Darkening it solved the issue.
Thanx Ben!

Glad you got it taken care of!

Note - this is the sort of an issue where a screenshot can save a lot of explanation. If my answer isn't on-target, you should definitely post one so we know what you're talking about.
