How about a little "Show off your music" thread...

by Terry · in Game Design and Creative Issues · 08/29/2005 (8:00 pm) · 42 replies

Not being much of a graphical artist, thereby having no decent artwork to show off, I thought it might be interesting for the people who make some game music now and then to let people have a listen. Not a "Hey, I have music for sale". Just throw out a short little sample every now and then of what you're creating for your current game.

Good Idea/Bad Idea???

There's a new track from Determinance (www.mode7games.com) up on my website - www.nervoustestpilot.co.uk/apotheosis.mp3

The track was written and mixed entirely in Live 5, with some additional A-station and MicroKorg parts.

Hope you like it!

Here are a coupe of songs:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=481537

You can mostly check out the songs: The Life of Penguins, Gamezone and Cellula. They are the most "gamelike" songs.

Email me if you are interrested in working with me or buying one of my songs.

@Vanessa: Checked them out, good stuff. You shouldn't have any trouble getting work. Always interesting to hear what people are doing.

I had forgotten until you posted that I'd changed servers a while back and hadn't updated the links above. Not much traffic here for music, not sure if it's because of a lack of interest or everyone is just holding their stuff close to home till games are released.

Vanessa: What do you use to make your music with? I really like the sound of your drum kits!

Hi all,

You can find lots of samples from my music at http://www.chaosresearch.de

I'm a Finnish composer currently living in Berlin, Germany. I have released several albums with various bands and projects and done 2 short film soundtracks so far. Game music is something I haven't done so far but I would like to. Therefore, for the sake of expanding my resume, I'm willing to work for FREE if your project is a) non-commercial and b) any good.

Of course I'm interested in commercial projects as well. Just email me for details.

Musically, I'm able to do pretty much anything from classical to tehno and from metal to ethno.

Feel free to mail me if you're interested, I won't bite...

Greetings,
New to this forum, referred by a friend who has picked up a paying gig or two from here.
I have been primarily involved with producing backing tracks for singer-songwriter demos and underscore for corporate videos; a student film or two has come my way as well.

A few tunes of mine can be heard at www.soundclick.com/dcwave

I've listened to several pieces presented in this thread - very nice.

Dave,

Very nice stuff. I especially liked the Rock piece and the Acoustical Guitar piece. Good background vocals on the acoustical. Good luck.

Hadn't visited this thread in a while and didn't realize my links above weren't working anymore, good chance to fix them. Made me want to throw out another short sample...

The guitar solo from a song I wrote...

Actually this was the first song I ever wrote and I used Guitar Pro 5 for the whole thing.

I think maybe only Joe Satriani or someone actually could play it on a guitar because it has a lot of 16th notes at 275 bpm... lol

I've only ever used GarageBand. I'm new to music, but I'd absolutely love to work on a game soundtrack.

I tend to lean towards ambient stuff when it comes to games, so that the music doesn't get in the way of the gameplay or other sound effects.

I plan on posting something I made when I get around to it...

Before I reply to all the fabulous posts here, let me just post this new game score of mine. I wrote it for an upcoming adventure/RPG for the PC download market. I am not sure when this game will be released, because the developer hasn't yet hired an artist! Anyway, here is the new music. I hope you enjoy!

Track 1: Main Title
In the style of Conan or Baldr's Gate. The chorus uses Old Norse lyrics which were an actual curse found on old runes.

Good stuff Jerome.. Sorry that the stuff I had you create did not make it out in a game yet!
