Changes for Zap

I think most people will agree with me when i say: the general population of zap is down. WAY down. We all had a shock when the rumor of zap closing was spread, and though it turned out to be nothing more than a missguided assumption, it is not very far from reality. If zap doesn't get to be what it used to be soon, then it will just be a waste of space on out computers, and no one will play any more. But I have an idea of how to get it back together. 3 simple yet nessiary steps:
1. New maps. The old maps are getting... well old, and we need some new ideas. Remember how many people played when everyone was cranking out new maps? I think if we get a few people working on this, it will be enough to get people back in the swing. I have been working on a few my self.
2. Dedicated server. We need one server running 24/7so even if the host isn't there people can jump right in and play.
3. A set play time, when everyone can play. I suggest 8-9 eastern time.
Hopefully enough people still post here to see this message.

Good points drex, how ever i think that if the people who know how to make maps, do then it will help.I have been making some, but i am unable to make a d-server due to my pile of crap some people in my family refer to as a computer. Due to this disability, i need some one to host for me and help me test them.... a task no one seems willing to do.

I haven't actually played Zap in quite a while, i'm mostly still waiting to see if the port to Torque is ever actually going to happen or not. That and every time i've actually started it up there hasn't been anyone on.

I can change the config on my servers (the jserver's), or possibly put up another if there is demand. I'd be more than willing to add maps to their rotations too if someone wanted to filter the crap from the non-crap for me.I haven't actually played Zap in quite a while, i'm mostly still waiting to see if the port to Torque is ever actually going to happen or not. Thanks Adam, if you could maybe give one of your servers bots, or make a new one with them that would be great i still have yet to test my new ones... really wish some one would help with that.

Yet we still are very lucky if we manage four or five people.
Though the number jumped from two-five in two years length. :)

There are four constant servers nowadays. New maps are being made all the time. And we occasionally have set times.Yet we still are very lucky if we manage four or five people.

Still at this point the people that know how to make maps are few and I think its good. If we get a flood of servers with crappy maps we will have the same problem we had before. Everyone playing a nice game and then soandso logs on and says hey come to my server and everyone goes and then you see the lame maps and everyone slowly is gone... and then your bored.
The J servers are up and going 24/7 and my server is usualy up and going most times. I think we should get the GG server back up with bots going... Atleast two GG server one hunters/rabbit and one ctf.
I miss some of the old GG server levels.
