I have a new idea ok the game would be a mmorpg it would start in like a high tech earth this game would be alot like star wars galaxys except combat wouldnt be based on a skill system but first person type requiring you to be good on your own behalf not the games but you have to earn certs for your weapons so u just cant go buy the best weapon in the game also the whole game is player vs player so you are always on egg shells also the best part is the egineer crafter portion if your a 3d modeler and you have the means to create a good model you can submit it to the devs and after they have received the model they review it texture it make it workable and then you recieve a email in the game telling you if it was accepted or not most will be if it was accepted you will recieve a email saying youhave been accepted please download plans for your new item you now have the plans and can make one of the unique items. Also the game will have housing and furniture. Tell me what you think.

Check out Neocron which came out slightly before panetside but didn't get the same exposure.

Definitely start at something... less expensive than an MMORPG. Sorry to ruin your hopes, but the servers they use for MMORPS cost around $100,000 or something like that. It also takes a pretty good team, but that's not such a problem since there are tons of people wanting to get into game dev. The real answer: just start with smaller fish. FPSs are pretty good because they aren't too expensive and they don't require 100gb of map/quest/item content to be worth a crap.

@Joe Richmond

Good job coming up with an idea and having the bravery and enthusiasm to share it.

I have some advise for you. Consider the comments on this post your first QA experience. Some are pretty rough. A couple are encouranging. Some aren't even paying attention to the topic. Most are making fun of your ideas.

Welcome to the game industry.

It's a bitch.

You're going to love it.

Crap, and I just want to make a one level adult remake of Duke Nukem called Luke Lickem.
