If you can run at least MacOSX version 10.2.8, and have an OpenGL graphics card, then I beleive TGE 1.4 *should* work.

However, I cannot guarantee that it will work very well.
Torque is a resource hungry application.
I originally ran TGE on a 400Mhz G4, with 256Mb RAM and an ATI Rage 128 PCI graphics card.
My framerate was not great, but it was usable. I think I got around 10 - 15 fps.

Since the 8500 has a smaller data pipe than the G4, I think you will get lower performance than my old G4 got. The G4 upgrade cards can be strange beasts. Your milage may vary.

Given that the upgrade cards are rather expensive, you may want to look into buying a newer machine. You can probably get a better machine for the price you'd pay on processor and video card upgrade. The upgrade cards are sortof a grey area, in that they are not officially supported by Apple, but usually work fine anyway.

These are the minimum system requirements for TGE on Mac, from the product page:
Quote:
MAC OS-X
G4 +, 128 MB RAM
OpenGL Compatible 3D Graphics Accelerator
Supported Compilers: X-Code (OS-X only)

If you're okay with almost completely unusable frame rates (2-4) while not in interiors (Interiors around 10-15), then it works on a G3.
