Liscence - the thing itself.

I have been looking into this engine extensively, and it really seems like something I want to get. However, there is a definite question, as to how exactly the liscence exists. If it is just like what it seems like, an agreement between me and garage games, then I'm fine with that. What I'm wondering is: is there some digital component to it, that allows me to download updates, get into the documentation, use the program etc? If so, can it be backed up? This is a buy or don't buy question for me, because I don't want to spend another $100 every time I re-install my operating system or get a new hardrive.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this topic,

Your purchase remains in your account information, you can re-download it from there as much as you want. You can stick it on a CD for yourself if you'd like. You get updates using a CVS program, if you'd like. But no, you should never have to buy the engine over and over again unless you somehow lose your login information, your e-mail address dies, and you forget you bought TGE. ;)

I will probably get this thing. In fact, even if I never planned to make money from the games industry, I would most likely still buy this for the sheer joy of creation. Which, by the way, would be shot to oblivion if I had to code an engine from scratch. Thanks GarageGames! ^_^

Thanks for clearing that up. This engine is too awesome to be messed up by M$-esque crap. :)I will probably get this thing. Long version: A license will be associated with your account on gg.com, saying you bought it.
Immediately, that gives you access to download everything you licensed from gg.com, and all the docs and secret stuff on gg.com that you don't currently have access to.
This license is perpetual, and associated with you. You may use your license as much as you please for pretty much whatever you want, within the restrictions [read the EULA... it's pretty easy, even for me to grasp :-)]. This means that if you want to install it on eight machines, so long as you're the only one editing or viewing the source, go for it!
IANAL.
