Any chance on us being able to get a milestone 2 demo soon?

Granted the video has been around quite a while, the only thing that still makes me hesitant to buy TSE really is that my computer features lackluster hardware... so I'm wondering if the GG guys intend to release a Milestone 2 demo soon so that potential customers can actually test their hardware with it. If there is already one, feel free to point me into its general direction by the way. (didn't see it on the TSE product page if it does exist) I wouldn't normally be so anxious... but it is TSE, and that video featuring the craziest most awesome water I find imaginably available to any indy has been a fixation of mine for a number of months now :P

I have no trouble with HL2, but PS2 hates me on all the current TSE demos... well, in the meantime, I guess I'll just hold out until the next demo. Thanks.

i think the only cure for this obsession is to plunk down the $150...
before it's too late... and we start having 'wet' dreams about it :)

I'm just scared to death of the notion that I'll throw down 150 dollars and then have to wait until I can put down 2000 on a new comp to develop with it :P

If you want to develop games without having to have decent development hardware, TGE or T2D are both ready and waiting... :)

If you want to develop cutting edge graphics, there is a price to pay. Specifically, it's the price of a decent graphics card, which is probably in the 150-200 range for one that would comfortably run all of TSE's effects in a development environment. If you want to develop games without having to have decent development hardware, TGE or T2D are both ready and waiting... :)

Which (TGE) by the way, I already have... I'm just looking for something to benchmark by :P

You can always develop for/with shader model 1.1 - with a geforce3 -> geforce fx cards. The real fun with shaders comes with SM 2.0 though. As a mininum, I'd recommend getting a Radeon 9600, or an nVIDIA 5800+ or 6600+. Don't get an nVIDIA 6200, or a Radeon x300.

Actually my intent was to wait and see if 7800 GTX would fall in price sometime during the next 4 months or so, since ATI is supposedly getting ready to throw out R520 and then decide from there whether its best to go with 7800 or try some of the new stuff. I just have some money burning a hole in my pocket right now that makes me sort of want to leap at TSE is all.

Refractions look so much better with SM 2.0 than with SM 1.4 : )Actually my intent was to wait and see if 7800 GTX would fall in price sometime during the next 4 months or so, since ATI is supposedly getting ready to throw out R520 and then decide from there whether its best to go with 7800 or try some of the new stuff. Are you looking to test TSE with the new terrain on your system, or did I misunderstand you?

I have brain damage from the UPGRADE NOW spam that Apple inflicted on me in the 90's.

@Jonathan - don't waste your money on the very latest cards. From the benchmarking, the 7800 is barely faster than the 6800 and x800. Doesn't offer significant new functionality either. The 6800 is a very nice SM 3.0 card.

I'm running on 6800, works like a charm. No, really.

@Stefan: Between the water and the terrain, yeah thats what I was wanting to test.

Demos over about 50megs just don't do much good in terms of making sales, and they're a pain to host, too... Which is why we haven't put the effort into making a TSE MS2 demo that's public, especially since MS3 is all about bugfixing and such. We'd rather hold off and have a really solid demo later on.
Anyway... trust me, it looks great, and runs on even fairly limited hardware (as long as it's shader capable). If you can run FarCry or HL2, you'll be able to run TSE (hopefully :P).
