Blend is stuck on

by Jeff Osborn · in Artist Corner · 08/03/2005 (9:34 pm) · 4 replies

I have no idea how I got into this state, but I'm using Max6 and exporting DSQ files. The other day they exported just fine, but now all the sequences are really screwed up.

I'm using the Show professional tool, and I lookedat Sequence Info, and Blend is ALWAYS on. It doesn't matter whether I toggle it off or on or anything in Max, it's always on when I load up the DSQ in the show tool. Is there some kind of config file setting that says "blend everything"? Is there any way that I can look at the actual Sequence object and change its values (like the user properties with the LOD/Multires object)? No matter what the blend sequence on the modifier for the sequence object is toggled to I get a blended sequence.

Thanks ahead of time.

Some more info:

I'm running 1.3 and using the Max 7 exporter.

I have some sequences that I generated prior to the mysterious event that now makes every sequence blended whether I want them to be or not, and (since they are not blended) they work find. These are root, side, and jump.

More about the symptom: These sequences that have the blend turned on even though I specifically turned them off in Max, all kind of stretch out one side of the animation and then pop back to the zero position that the DTS shape is in. It's usually only one side of the model-- so the right hand stretches forward obscenely, while the right leg stretches backward. The left side is more or less stationary it moves a little, but that's all. If I wanted an Igor-like effect, it would be great-- unfortunately, I don't.

I'm willing to come to the conclusion that I changed some setting in the Max/DTS/DSQ UI that hosed me up, but I have no idea what it is. I've tried deleting the sequence object and recreating it with blend DEFINITELY turned off. Still, the exported DSQ loaded up in Show Tool Pro shows Blend=Yes in the Sequence Info dialog box.

What great sin have I commited against the exporter?

Maybe the version of the exporter that you are using is borked? There are a lot of user compiled versions that fall short of the mark so your best bet is to redownload the Exporter Plugin and try again.

Okay. I'm pretty sure this is the official one, but I'll give it a whirl.

Um, do you have a link to the official exporter?
