Are you making a RPG? Would Natural Language Processing help?

We were tossing around the idea of writing a Natural Language Processing system with the indended use being the conversations for Non-Player Charactors in role playing games.
"Natual Language Processing" means that instead of picking what your charactor says from a list, you get to type whatever you want him to say on the keyboard.
The challenge is how to get the NPC to respond correctly, even if you word the question in a differnt way then he was expecting.
So anyway, I was wondering, how many role playing games are currently in development, and how many of those developers would want it, vs not want it?
So if your making a RPG, post that your working on a RPG, and say wether you would be interested in Natural Language Processing or not. It would be appreciated. (plus you get a excuse to mention your project :) Also, if you want to post a bit about the game, like mideval vs sci-fi, and what types of NPC's would need interesting scripts, that'd help too.
Thanks

At least for Facade, they do mention that they are not planning on making their system public until at least later this year. But I'm very curious about it.

I agree, I think real AI and interactivity have been ignored in recent years in favor of more advanced graphics designs, but I think at least some of that has to do with the gaming public's evolving attitudes towards heavy text-based interactive games. But I do think there is a place for this, and I would be really interested to see how deeper interactivity can become integrated with a system like Torque. At least for Facade, they do mention that they are not planning on making their system public until at least later this year. Still, it is a very interesting concept and it is relevant to the thread. Something I saw while browsing around the Facade stuff was that some of it's reviewers were impressed that they laid their focus on AI, which has been largely ignored in favor of advances in graphics and physics. Maybe that's something the community at GG should take to heart? Torque is fairly outmoded in those two areas, but how does its AI fare? Can it be improved? (Harder than it sounds, I know...)
I would like to see how they did it and try to figure out a way to apply it to some kind of RPG situations.
