Intermittent sound problems

About every 20th time I start my game, it either starts with no sfx and music, or the sound is choppy. Whenever this happens, the game is laggy. Normally, I simply restart the game and it's fine. Now and then, the problem persists until I do a reboot.
It's always possible that there's a problem with my machine (running XP), so if anyone else has experienced this issue, please report it so Melv knows how common it is.
Sorry I don't have more detail on this.

Maybe there's a thread or two being left running and it bogs your system down.

Is your game closing down properly when you exit it? If you close the game, and then bring up the Task Manager is your game (or T2D if you haven't renamed the .exe) still running?Maybe there's a thread or two being left running and it bogs your system down.

I suppose that's possible, and I'll check to see if that's the case. But if it is, then the question becomes, why isn't it shutting down properly?

I just had this happen again, but this time, after restarting the game about 10 times and no sound, I let it sit while I worked on something else for awhile. Then I came back, fired it up, and the sound was back. Mysterious...
Anyway, so the reboot may not be a factor. For some reason, sometimes the sound takes off, and sometimes it doesn't.
