Softimage XSI 5.0

Avid has now made Softimage XSI 5.0 available for preorder on its website. Information on its new features can be found here.
The prices haven't changed, but the price to upgrade from XSI foundation 4.2 is ... $395.
I emailed Softimage, telling them that I thought the upgrade price was excessive, considering that is 80% of the full price. What do you think? Does anyone here plan on upgrading?

The XSI exporter is almost ready to be sent out to the first set of testers. We are just working on co-ordinating a few things with GG before starting the first round of testing. Im pretty sure that some of the people at GG are still recovering from IGC. When I was talking with Josh W at IGC looked like he hadn't slept in weeks. :o)

I was wondering how the XSI exporters are coming along

Personally I started coding a dotxsi convertor and an fbx convertor, but neither works yet. An fbx convertor seems to make a lot sense to me, especially since that would enable support for Cinema 4d and the Collada file format.

I'm sure we'd hear from Matt once its ready. I don't think it makes much sense to ask about the progress when the first vesion hasn't even been released yet.Personally I started coding a dotxsi convertor and an fbx convertor, but neither works yet. I saw the news on Constructor, So I was wondering if the XSI exporters were at GDC. That would be cool if I could get them both at the same time.

Can we get a firm date on availability please - the exporter has been in the works for 2 years now. I am looking to use Torque for a commercial product ( I have several years commercial experience) and before I throw my lot in with Torque I want to feel secure that what is promised will be delivered in a timely fashion. Please can we get a current status update and an availability date?
