====link to central page that is always up to date :)=======
www.users.on.net/~symes/gamedev/videotuts/videotuts.html
I've created part 3 of the Axe tutorial.
I've also created a central webpage for all the tutorials I've created. I hope that makes them a little easier for people to find them all.
www.users.on.net/~symes/gamedev/videotuts/videotuts.html is the link.
Again the same procedure will apply. I'll host a Azureus torrent of the new file tonight (after 10:30 PM Australian time).
Hopefully Roland will be able to grab a copy from the torrent and host it at his site www.rstralberg.com/
I tweaked the compression of this last one so it looks a bit better and is a bit smaller per minute than others.
Enjoy!

Nice work Nigel! I had downloaded Blender about a month or so ago to check it out, and I'm very glad you are documenting the exporting process for this impressive piece of software. I really like the open source movement, and it's nice to see a video series that covers the export process for Blender.B--

I've stayed away from using torrent.
I just tried getting the file. I went to the torrentspy.com site and clicked on the Bit Lord torrent program and installed it.
I downloaded the torrent file and the program just sits there trying to connect.
I dont see anything in the preferences to change.
I am behind a hardware router/firewall. Any thoughts?

The process is that you download a small text file ending in .torrent and then your client takes that info and accesses the tracker and the tracker tells each client when it can get the bits of the file.
The software might be having problems at different points.
Usually connecting isn't the problem but getting good speeds is.
I know it is a pain but my suggestion would be to go to Azureus.sourceforge.net and download that client (an open source java based one) and try it again. Unfortunately I think don't think the stuffed advertised at www.torrentspy.com (whether bit lord or mobile phone ringtones etc is ever very good :| )
Anyway, I'm sure Roland will probably have it up on his ftp server soon enough.
Thanks again Roland!
And David, hope a change to azureus gets it working for you.
P.S. don't forget to open the ports mentioned on Azureus' site to get good speeds.

I've never used the bit lord program. I use Azureus (azureus.sourceforge.net)as I'm confident it won't contain malware. The process is that you download a small text file ending in .torrent and then your client takes that info and accesses the tracker and the tracker tells each client when it can get the bits of the file.

I will try Azureus and see if i can use torrent. Thanks.
Btw, your videos are great. I haven't used blender before (could never get it running.)
I know that I should be learning the gui and learn how to model in it, but I would like to just try the process of getting something from blender to torque.
So far, so good.
Of course, I have to find and get the torque plugin for blender installed.
Doing that now.

Nigel, apart from the video and sound problems, the tuturial was as great as the others.
Thanks.
I do need to say that the video and sound problems do interupt the learning from the tutorial.
I have limited knowledge about making videos, but it kind of seems that there may have been something running in the background
that might have affected recording. (The audio seems to jump/skip ahead and the video jerky/blocky.)
Of course, it could be anything including the file corruption.

I can only think something to do with it being a torrent has corrupted the file. (I was hosting it using Azureus under Mandriva Linux and the file was being accessed from a FAT32 file on a windows partition. I don't know, maybe the java implementation on Linux coupled with Azureus is creating havoc (it was using heaps of mem))
Anyway, I'm trying to host it on my personal ftp space (I hope it fits). I'll post a link as soon as it is up (fingers crossed) bar that, I'll email it to you Roland directly tonight (emailing 50megs takes for ever on my end :) )

I'm pretty sure something dodgy happened when I made the torrent. It was late and I had already spent too much time making the video :) I didn't double, triple check every last detail.
Obviously something I did in the torrent creation or seeding went awry
Anyway, I'll post a link to it on my ftp asap (or if doesn't fit, I'll email it to Roland and ).
Sorry about that folks, I'll fix it asap
*EDIT here it is ppl. The link to a fixed version on my ftp space here www.users.on.net/~symes/other/axe_part3.avi

I also want to thank Roland for hosting ALL of the tutorials, donating all that bandwidth for my education :) Thanks folks! It is HIGHLY appreciated.

So I *FINALLY* got around to watching these tutorials (I'm a modeling n00b - I've always been a programmer, but you have to stretch when you are an indie). I want to offer my sincere THANK YOU to Nigel first and foremost for taking the time and effort to produce these tutorials. This has really helped a lot of things get clear to me, especially with the whole workflow. I'd been learning pieces of things, and this part really brought the whole process home.I also want to thank Roland for hosting ALL of the tutorials, donating all that bandwidth for my education :) Thanks folks! It is HIGHLY appreciated.

Thanks for creating these tutorials. Its always nice to see someone using the exporter.
Its even better for new users, who probably don't have a clue about using blender, let alone the exporter :)
