Client Container Searches?

I really need to be able to do container searches on the client. I noticed that there were some asserts that would prevent you from doing this. I commented them out and everything seems to work fine - even when connected to a dedicated server. Should I be fine or will this cause something to explode?

It'll work fine. Of course, you may want to consider the implications of allowing clients to search the environment (vis a vis cheating), which is why it's disabled by default.

As it stands now, can't people effectively do the same thing by going through all of the ghostIDs and and picking out the ones that they're interested in?

Only things in scope will be ghosted to the client, so a client can only "see" what its allowed to see
