Why not? there's always a way...

as long as you complete step #1: Write a game worth publishing ;)

Hmm...just wondering, since im a "Teen" 2 :P Would there be any problems for somone who is under the age rating for there game, to publish one? like if your 16 and its rated 17? I dont think there would be...but i might as well ask :P But as far as i know, you should be fine for publishing, as long as the game is good

Dunno, but I think that's stupid. Just think if your game hit shelves and you try to buy the game you made and the clerk says, "Sorry man, but this game is rated M." This is what's gonna happen since that hot coffee incident.

Why would you buy a copy of your own game from a store in the first place?

So don't make a game that's going to get a high age rating, problem solved :)

I dunno. I think it would be kinda cool. Then brag to the clerk and be like, "I made this game!" :)

@Joseph Aww! But I love M rated games!

FYI, the ESRB "ratings" are industry, not government.

That means there is zero legal issues with this, it is all just industry policy. (Wallmart wont sell ESRB "M" rated games)

so there is no legal issue (at least here in the US) with selling a game full of demon sex, etc.

The only area of content where there IS a legal (criminal) issue is when it comes to child pornography, but if you make games with that in it, you deserve to rot in hell anyway :P

And I say "legal" in the way that I mean "Criminal"... meaning you wont go to jail for that stuff. However, that's not going to stop someone from suing you in civil court, and win a billion dollars by sympathetic jurry.

Another point to consider is that making a game takes YEARS. Like...more than one year anyway :-)

Point being by the time you finish...you'll probly be 19.

I wouldn't say that. Depends on the game, depends on the team. But usually most indie games take at least 6 months, so yeah. :)

The games that take under a year are usually done by experienced indies (depending on the scale of the game)... so if this is your first game I'd estimate at least a year to completion, probalby safe to estimate more.

"(Wallmart wont sell ESRB "M" rated games)"

Not true. They sell FarCry and Doom III just to name 2.

They sold GTA: SA before it was re-rated as AO.

I think he meant AO, not M.
