Compiling RTSPack using GCC Linux

Ok well im a beginner in linux and Im having trouble with what I think are bugs. Anyway Im using Fedora Core 4 and when I type gcc -v in console I get 4.0.0 now How would I get that to work with RTSPack? Or would it be better to downgrade to 3.4.1 and just use that? Either way my make file on has GCC3, where would I download the newer make file? Anyway thanks for the help.
