Free Music Available

I've written some game music that I'm making available to anyone who can use it-no charge, no royalties. Many different styles. Be sure to listen to the whole song, because several of them completely change direction (some several times).

All you have to do is give me credit in your game (and a free copy of the game) if you use it (I'm trying to build a portfolio).

If you click on one and it starts then suddenly stops, just rewind and play again.

1. A soothing, moody, sinister piece

2. Hard driving guitar/synth piece
This one has several distinct changes that can be broken up and used separately (chase music, driving music, etc.)

3. Another guitar piece-works well as a title piece

4. Orchestral Fantasy Piece

5. Another orchestral piece, very short, horn heavy, fantasy piece

6. Fast and Hard bass/drum piece
Modern funk kind of piece

7. Heavy back beat guitar piece
I can see this being used in a heavy hand to hand fight scene. Has a middle-eastern feel in the middle.

8. Blues guitar piece
Slow and easy-great backdrop for lonely character type of scene walking the streets at night or modern/sci-fi cantina music.

Contact if interested in using any of these.

Very good stuff John. I may use the hard driving guitar piece for a driving game I'm working on. The orchestral pieces would go well with the FPS demo in Torque.

Would it be possible for you to provide them in OGG format? It's what Torque uses for music. If not, I'll just find a tool to convert the ones I need.

Thx!

Thanks!
I haven't bought Torque yet (I'm getting the book this weekend and am going to see if all of this is above my head).

I have some programming skills, but just as a hobbyist, and I'm an artist by trade, but I'd love to go headlong into game making, and it sounds like Torque is the best way to go so far. As soon as I get into it and decide it's going to work, I'd be glad to convert, but if you're in a hurry, you might want to go ahead and convert yourself-It may take awhile to get through that big book, :)

Take care.

Cool music. Do you mind sharing what equipment was used (drums for example)?

@ BigPapa

Audacity is freeware, open source and imports .mp3 and exports .ogg

Dirk-
Here's my music hardware/software list:

A custom-built Harmony guitar, an MCI Intertek H/P 2000 bass, a Cort Curbow Fretless bass, Apple's Garage Band, Mark of the Unicorn's Digital Performer 4.1, Drums on Demand Volume 1 & 2, Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer, M-Audio Radium 61 Keyboard, Mac G4 Dual 1 gig/1.5 Gigs of Ram

Digital Performer wasn't actually used on any of the ones posted above, but I've used it for other pieces where MIDI is involved.

John-

I will probably use some of this music in one of my games. What do you want me to put in the credits?

I like the soothing moody piece I think it would fit well in a sci-fi mmo or any sci-fi game really. I wish there was more like it.

I know this is "necroposting", but I just have to say: Nice work man, really nice.

The songs are unavailable :/

Too bad, I was enjoying these pieces.
