Hey what if I wanted to make a game for the upcomeing Xbox 360 would the torque game engine be able to export it to the Xbox?

If you can fit an Xbox 360 game in between a B average and your chores, well, that'd be mighty impressive ;)

I've been thinking about this for a while... I've been trying to pull together a small bunch of guys over at my college and if I tell them we can work on something for the Xbox360 then I would automaticly have a team of guys... would be awsome though.

1. Does a developer approach MS or does MS approach developers ? I thought it was devs approaching MS, but I heard otherwise. Just want to verify
2. Does a game have to be top of the line graphics to get on the XBox 360 ? Or can a TGE game (with or without lighting pack) get on XBox360 ?
And I am assuming you are talking about Arcade...

2. If you are talking about top of the line graphics in current AAA PC games, that probably won't cut it for the Xbox 360. The good news is that the reason why a lot of PC games don't have graphics as good as they could is they don't know the target hardware for sure. For 360 you can be positive what you will be running on, but a TGE game with the lighting pack would not cut it. The Microsoft docs make it clear what you need, and TSE can do what you need.
Now Josh, don't discourage the kid. If he is under 360 NDA and a bunch of money laying around, who are we to say he can't get it done. ;)

Don't you need a GDK to make games for a system ? and don't they cost around $5000s ?

What's a GDK? Is that used for exporting the game?

The good news is that MS will lend you one if you convince them your product is good enough and is gonna ship this millenium. If you are serious about 360 dev you'll need to stump up to go to microsoft burnout days and the GDC to network with the MS guys. They are used to getting developers sucking up to them and are actually quite open to it. You need something to show though, even if it is a dev document and some mock ups. Basically if you are persistent and show you are serious or better still have an existing product out there you have a very good shot at getting something on arcade and/or even 360 arcade.
Hey I've said too much (but not quite enough)
....if someone from MS asks remember [cockney accent] You ain't seen me roit! [accent off]
psst...yea over by this alley....no no you don't need to see my face....anyway er you may want to know that MS have recently been looking for some original ip for xbox arcade by browsing some indie games review sites and checking out magazine reviews of indie properties....your sales figures may help them decide what to pick....s&*t someones coming...THE WAY TO TRAFALGAR SQUARE YEA TURN NEXT RIGHT AND....they gone.....I'm off mate don't want to tell you anything that may get my indie stuff some serious competition for MS attention now do I ;o)
