Batman Begins is worth seeing

by backtracking · in General Discussion · 06/14/2005 (10:36 pm) · 52 replies

Having been "treated" by EA last year to see Catwoman early, I didn't have high hope for Batman seeing it tonight at 6:30p.

Boy, was I wrong. This is the darkest Batman ever, and it makes it easier to understand the man and the batman.

Very good beginning to jump-start the franchise. The cast, story, everything came together really, really well.

Scale of 1-10 (10 best), I give Batman Begins a strong 8.5. Better then Batman and Batman Returns. I don't count the other two, other then for cheesy laughs.

It will be on theaters this friday here in Spain. I won't go because I have an exam at 16:00, and have to go to work at 21:00, but I'll definitely see it this saturday. Will be the first Batman movie I won't see on its first day :(

And yes, it looks like it will be the best Batman movie ever.

All I could think when watching the B:B trailer was "no, no, no!! they effed up batman once again."

What is and always was cool about Batman (vs Superman or other heros) was that he was human. He bleeds. He has a toy or two but for the most part relies on his intelligence (he's a detective) and brawn (he trained in various martial arts for years). I saw too many "toys" especially those ugly vehicles in the trailers to be excited about this movie. I watched the Keaton/Nicholson version the other night which I hadn't seen in years and years and they did a really fantastic job with that movie (bravo to Tim Burton). I'll probably see B:B but reluctantly.

I'm going to see it tonight, though everytime I saw that trailer I just kept seeing American Psycho, lol hard to switch from imagining him in that role to Batman.

It kinda sucks for Russell as the movie was kinda ruined for him over 6 months ago. I requested to not be told anything about it. =)

Joshua, I won't spoil anything, but unlike previous movies, Batman doesn't have an endless supply of crazy gadgets. He only has three or four that he must make work for everything. And sometimes less. I'm seeing the movie tonight, but I've read the shooting script. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yeah actually as a result of this post I went and read the movie synopsis on RT. it does seem pretty true to the original spirit afterall. I guess they just have to pimp the cars and gadgets in the trailers to make it look "exciting." just thank god it's not a camply flick like the last two! (ca guv ahhnold as mr. freeze!!)

Hmm, I guess when my bro goes and sees it I'll tag along... I thought it would be another worthless Batman movie so I was like "Meh, I'll stay home..." but reading everything here, I think I'll give B:B a shot. :)

However I will NOT see War of Worlds unless someone can convince me that it's not some scare-your-pants-off-all-the-way-to-china movie. *shudder*

After seeing the trailers I refused to go see it. Looked like it was going to suck so much.

After reading your opinions I may actually rent it when it comes out on DVD now.

Went to see it last night and was blown away. The story was great. His gadgets were adequately explained (even the cape!), the damage vs drama ratio was fun, and Katie Holmes (who I usually hate as being too cutesy) delivered a decent performance.

Worth going to see? DEFINITELY.

I just got back from it and was not that impressed... and i wanted to be. Now it does blow away Schumacher's nippled Batmans, but Burton's Batman is still the standard which by all comic book movies are judged. I have to say unless your a hardcore fan, wait for DVD.
