Hi
i'm about to buy the TGE but then i thought maby i should buy TSE because of it's per pixel rendering and normal maps and MAKING CAVES and other good stuff.. but how is TSE. is it the same as TGE (in terms of EASE, because i don't know much about hardcoregamemaking)..
If i purchase TSE will i get the FPS.starterkit and the racing.starterkit?
Please tell me this... would it be better to Buy TSE now or Buy TGE and wait til i know more about making games and then buy TSE as it then might be finished too?
Thanks in advance

I like that advice I'm going to do that to. how do I get the scripts from the demo? and does T2D have scripts as well? also what about the Reaction Engine?

Bardur, apologies, but that's not how I read your first post. I can't give you the comparisson you're looking for, but someone else probably will.

Jason, the scripts for TGE are included with the demo. T2D works in a similar way and you code in script. The demo for that is binary only, as scripts for T2D cannot be made publicly available. The Reaction Engine I don't know anything about.Bardur, apologies, but that's not how I read your first post. I can't give you the comparisson you're looking for, but someone else probably will.

You must first own TGE, before you can get TSE. So in answer to your question you'll need to purchase TGE license first in order to purchase TSE.
If you've never done this kind of development before..
My recomendation: buy this book and get familiar with how torque works.
It has everything to get you going in a single place, and the author hangs out on these forums, so an answered question is only that far away.. Then buy TGE / TSE and the host of other GG goodies as needed..
anyway, thats the "recomended" way of doing it..
good luck
PS - I bought TGE and jumped in feet first..and thats good too :)

@ Bardur....man...you don't have a choice. You don't have an option of which to buy. If you want TSE you have to first have TGE...it depends on how complex your project is, but TGE can do some really sweet stuff if treated the right way. Also, TGE is very useful for TSE because TSE can't make DTS/DIF objects in missions. You need TGE for that. So basically, TSE is for great art and for finishing your game with its shader technology.

Download the TGE demo and get to grips with the scripting. Purchasing TGE or TSE will get you the source code, but if you're relatively new, then you won't want to be messing about with the engine anyway.
Download the demo, play about with the scripts (you can create an entire game with just the scripts) and then make the decision to purchase once you decide if game making is for you.
I did just that, decided that 3D stuff was way over my head for the time being and bought T2D instead :)
