A proposal for James U

Reading here and there I've noticed that Blender has not smoothing groups or "hard and soft" edges, but i think ther's a solution:
We have edge creases (from 2.35 on). Could you James take in account edge crease as a flag for deciding if it's an hard or soft edge?
E.g. when an edge has: crease=0.00 -> hard edge if it has crease>0.00 (or =1.00, your choice) -> soft edge.
What do you think about it? Are you still reading this forum?
Thanks for the exporter anyway, you gave great boost to my creativity!!!

Blender is not very nice about exporting the face normals ( it seems to mix the world and object local spaces depending on the heirarchy). This is what would need to be addressed to work with your issue along with passing the edge crease info and re-creating the face normals based on that. I would not expect support for this feature (but I'm not James, so...).
You may look into breaking your meshes along your creases to give you the 'hard edge' you are looking for as a temporary workaround.
