Atlas, Part II: The Prettying.

Hey guys,
You can talk about Atlas much as you like now. :)
Anyway, we are putting together a demo reel of TSE as of Milestone 2. One element we'd like would a bunch of cool screenshots or short videos.

Stuff like that. Thanks to Phil Carlisle and Stefan Lundmark for the AWESOME shots! Things that show off the new terrain and water, especially. As Jay Moore said when we were discussing this earlier today, "We might not make you rich, but we might make you famous."
If you want to just post links to videos/pictures here, that's fine. Or you can contact me at beng@garagegames.com and we can work out a way to get the data across (or just send it directly in mail :). High res is definitely good; we'd like to have nice, high-res, high-quality source material to work from.
We'll choose a few contributions, which will get featured in the demo reel.
Let's see some cool shots!

If you could have things to us by Monday noon PST, that would be AWESOME. We're trying to get this done by Thursday, so the closer you get to that the less likely we'll have time to look at it.

Ben - Have you been getting some nice looking terrains by email? There isn't much posted on this thread, so, I figured everyone must be emailing them to you. I was planning on spending my day off tomorrow making a mountain side terrain for my innertubing game. It won't really show off water much, but it will have lots of trees. Would that be ok?Air Ace and Avalon look AMAZING!!!

A few mails from some nice people, and the posts here.
We could definitely use more images and videos. I can't believe that there are only 4 people in the whole community that are making anything interesting looking with the new terrain. :)
So... Yeah, keep 'em coming!

I think it's a great oppurtinity to show off your game, and at the same time it makes TSE look even better!

I'm sure there are more, they are just pressured to deliver something beautiful :)I think it's a great oppurtinity to show off your game, and at the same time it makes TSE look even better!

I think that we should all see if we can collaborate to put together some really nice snapshots to help show off the TSE. Together, we could all probably come up with some stuff that rivals the big boys at E3. At least a snapshot. (Actually, if we all could work together we definitely could make something to rival the big boys games, but anyway.) I am making some terrains tomorrow. I was going to do a terrain to show off my innertubing game, but now I think it's more important to show of the TSE. So, if anyone wants to collaberate with me this week and come up with something really great. Email me at: antonphd@yahoo.com I am pretty damn good at snapshot composition. I could use a nice skybox and some foliage or maybe some thing else to go in the scene.

OK. I have an idea for one interesting snapshot. This should show off the new terrain, water and normal map textures. A scene from an underground Dwarven mine. A big cavern with a underground lake in the middle. Some cool pillars and maybe a bridge across the water and a shaft of light coming thru a hole in the ceiling. Very LOTR. I think I am definitely going to try this out. If anyone has any suggestions for how to do this different to make it cooler or maybe ideas of things to add... let me know. If anyone has a high res dwarf, that could be cool. We could have the dwarf on the edge of the water looking out into the scene with the camera looking from just behind his shoulder. Maybe a torch in hand would be cool. If not a dwarf... maybe a human... maybe even a modern human, like someone discovered this in modern times. That would be pretty awesome too. Maybe the modern human would have a lamp or something. I don't know. Tell me what you think. We only have a few days to do this in, but with a combined effort I think it's enough time.

@Matt - cool. Ideas are easy to come by that if you don't share, 99.99% will never see the light of day.

So, in future if you really need cool screenies from the community it's best to give us more than a weekend or two to work on it.
But, nonetheless I do have something that's pretty far along. I'll mail it to you or post it up here late today/tomorrow depending on how far I get.

@Ben - Fer cryin' out loud, man! We've barely had a week to play with the new toy. And for those of us that work for a living and have a family that demands some interaction sometimes, finding the time to get something done can be tricky ;)So, in future if you really need cool screenies from the community it's best to give us more than a weekend or two to work on it.

Haha James, true words spoken. I sat 48 hours with the terrain until I grasped it even moderatly. :p And if I had to work, that wouldn't had happened.

@Matt - this terrain is so new that no one but the people who made it have a really great grasp of it. It's likely going to be a while before a tutorial beyond the tsedoc comes out.

I'd actualy make some terrains and take some screenies if I had a decent video card that could render the 2.0 water... :(

Anton: Just make sure you use a volume light for the light shaft. ;)I'd actualy make some terrains and take some screenies if I had a decent video card that could render the 2.0 water... :(

We'll also be doing some work at GG to get some nice looking terrains put together. But naturally, being able to show off what the community's got would be a lot cooler. ;)

Hehehe... I guess it's easy to lose track of how long I've been playing with the tech. :)We'll also be doing some work at GG to get some nice looking terrains put together. But naturally, being able to show off what the community's got would be a lot cooler. ;)
