A game style I've only seen once, but would love to play again.

Does anyone remember Blaster Master for the NES console? I have very fond memories of playing it, and would love to see a game done in the same style using something like T2D.
Is anyone already working on a project that takes it's inspiration from this game?
Anyways, justa thought, thanks for taking the time to read this.

I also saw part 2 in Sams Club a couple years back, but neglected to pick it up. Got good ratings though, might resort to ebay for it someday.

Blaster Master was incredible. I loved how you could get upgrades for the SUV thing, and the change in POV was slick too. Awesome game.I also saw part 2 in Sams Club a couple years back, but neglected to pick it up. Got good ratings though, might resort to ebay for it someday.

gah, lost on Memories Lane...
I loved how the world had that illusion of non-linearity and how it was always interesting (and sometimes necessary) to explore the earlier areas with your upgraded machine since you could access previously hidden stuff now. mmmm...

When I was a kid my best friend and I played this game for hours and hours.... and though we didn't know what it meant, my best friend started(and me as well) calling it the septic tank... It's a cool word, until you find out what it means.

Actually, Metroid gameplay and feel was rather similar, so its not exactly that unique, now that i come to think about it. But anyways.. :)

I question it, weither Blaster Master came out before Metroid did... If so, I bet it's where Miyamoto himself got inspiration for Metroid's gameplay (didn't Gumpei Yokai help with Metroid as well?)...
The world may never know...!
/pondered.

But Metroid didn't have the changes in point-of-view, nor did it have a vehicle and all that. :-\ I honestly think I liked Blaster Master much more than Metroid.

Now, the original! I loved that beast!

The 3D version wasn't so hot, sadly. The world seemed pretty big, but empty and pointless. Driving around it wasn't even fun. Now, the original! I loved that beast!

Hey guys I really do want to see this game made. I'm a little busy at the moment with my own projects but if now is the time everyone is interested I want to jump on. Ajari I see you are a skilled musician, that's excellent. Is anyone else interested in working on a Blaster Master inspired game? Maybe we can at least start some pre-production with ideas and planning a game out?

Anyways I'll be purchasing T2D within a couple of weeks, anyone else interested in this project email me smorrey@gmail.com

Ok then let's do it, it would make a nice showcase for T2D as well. We would just have to make sure to not actually "remake" Blaster Master, just co-opt the graphics and play style, maybe even a little of the storyline.Anyways I'll be purchasing T2D within a couple of weeks, anyone else interested in this project email me smorrey@gmail.com

If a BM-inspired game were to be made in 3D I would like to be as true to the original's game play as possible. Simple enough to just have fun, not have to think so much and wade through boring parts. The original did make you think it was just so well intertwined with the game it didn't feel like it.
Well good luck anyways.
P.S. You asked if there was a project that took inspiration from the game. I did made this little mini-game last year. Just to test if I could get a 3D game running on a web browser, let me know if you like it.

I'm actually more interested in making a 3D version. In my opinion the 2D game was done perfectly the first time. Though I'm sure that if you made another 2D version it would still be a lot of fun to make and you'd learn a lot, I'd certainly love to play it. Oh an I can't wait to see what the storyline will be this time :).If a BM-inspired game were to be made in 3D I would like to be as true to the original's game play as possible.
