Who may be interested in taking on a new take on the WW2 game genre

Here is a little about the game

The game works on a basic 24hour clock, it turns from night to day, and I have made all efforts to try and simulate some degree of environment and weather effects (still a work in progress). Since most WW2 games simply focus on one squad, I have developed an open AI system that will give the player the full scope of the war and battles they takepart in. Essentially the AI micro manages over 250,000 units in realtime. Essentially simulating the entire battle over a course of days. Via a GUI the user will simply have to give initial commands such as overall objectives and sub-objectives, and outline the initial strike plan.

The AI will read these plans and start to complete them, some which will be possible while others will pose as a bigger problem. The AI will adapt and change its plans as is needed, ordering troops, squads, platoons in the most strategically correct manner (from the era). The troops take this adapted scenario and try to complete it, the AI will re-determine the effectiveness of this plan as it unfolds, ordering its units about depending.

So the AI sounds cool, and works well. What about the game, well thats the beauty, the only story included in the game are the events. While without the player interacting with the system, the events of battles are re-told as per history. But with the player interacting with it all, these events can change.

Not your usual WW2 game, now for the really interesting thing. Since the game manages every unit and because the game essentially tells the story of a particular battle in WW2. It is possible for the player to select any unit that is in battle (playing as one character for 24-hours could be boring) so the player can simply jump between all manner of units, seeing the full scope of the war.

Technology wise, we are using

Reality Engine
Novodex
SpeedTree

and many more.

We currently consist of 25+ members, from all areas. So if you feel that this project is of interest to you or you feel you could aid in its development in any manner please feel free to contact me

Lol, I thought you were one of those 12 year old kids that are "using" the Reality Engine. So how does Epic buying the Reality Engine effect you guys?

Hmm, when I saw 1944, I was thinking maybe it was a spiritual successor to the old 1942 arcade game, kinda dissapointed now :P

Seriously though, it looks like you got some nice models there.

We have about 50+ weapons done, nearly all are being skinned, bump mapped, and specular mapped. We have near on 200+ vehicles in development, and about 15 units currently in development.

We have the entire map of Normandy Done (Thats 160x160 KM of terrain accurately done)

Then we have several people working on props, landmarks, buildings and other.

So the project is certainly turning out nicely, we also seem to have generated a community over-night. More content being released this weekend.

The weapons are around 2000 - 2500 tris, yup you read that right tris, not polies. The aver vehicle is between 3000 tris - 5000 tris, with most of them being in the area of 3000 tris. The characters are also only 3000 tris, All props are under 1000 tris, and we are doing all we can to ensure we make everything as detailed as it needs, while still really low poly.

At the moment we are recovering from a hacking icident, we fortunately managed to prevent them from doing any major damage, but its still an issue we are trying to resolve.

Is the Reality Engine the one that the Unreal guys bought out and intend to eventually stop supporting?

Your media is impressive. Where were you when I needed WW2 models a while back? :)

Epic Bought out all future licences of the engine, the engine will still receive support as best I am aware. But the engine is stable and more than beneficial to a capable team of programmers. We find it very easy to do things in it, performance is fantastic, and the visual quality and toolset is fantastic.

I was probably making this game ;)

What was the price of the reality engine? Im asking this cuz you say you are an indie. Anyway, incredible stuff you have in there, good luck with your game.
