I design and direct games for Somatic Vision. We primarily make games for use with biofeedback, but our latest game, Tropical Heat, a jet ski racing game, is for regular gamers and is available on PC/Mac and will be available on ipad and iphone soon.

According to Logan Foster's .plan a milestone 1 release should be done mid to late may, which is about ... now. But then again, a release was also planned for last october (still says so on the realmwarsgame.com website).
To anyone still developing RealmWars: There *IS* a (ever shrinking) group of very dedicated fans of this game, and we're all dying for some updates. The latest news on the 'official' website is now 9 months old; usually that means a game is dead and buried. If that's not the case, please keep us informed on what is happening...

The main reason I bought a Torque licence was to get access to the RW sources, but oh well...
Just one more question: Now that it is no longer a community project, will the game still be free when it's finished?

You still have complete access to the source code as of the last update in Novermber of 2004, that will not change unless GG decides to remove the RW CVS on their end (its nothing that we can control, sorry).
As for the game itself, I cannot make any official statement yet but the intention of the group is to distribute this as a retail product as a purchasable item.

There is now a blog (instead of news that was infrequently updated) on the Realm Wars site.
