Max2DTS Tutorial Complete

by Brandon Maness · in Torque Game Engine · 05/21/2005 (2:57 am) · 28 replies

After smashing my head against the wall while trying to export DTS/DSQ animation with Max2DTS, I decided to write a tutorial now that I have a firm grasp of its quirks. There is also a link at the bottom of the tutorial to download a .chm version so you can take it with you.

Enjoy!

Matthew, another way to scale your character down without using the box trick is to go into vertex mode, select all the vertices, scale them down, and then probably have to move them to the correct position. But this way you don't actually apply any scaling information at the object level, so you don't have to do the box trick.

Edit: oh and good job with the tutorial, Brandon. This will help a lot of people. We all struggle with the exporter when we first start using it :).

Thanks for the link. :D Will pass on to my artist, just one last question, will that tutorial work with 3DSMax 6? My Artist already has the max2dts for Max6, but does he also need torque_max_filepack.zip?

Thanks for the replys!

@Karl: The basics should be the same for Max6, but don't quote me on that.

@Matt, Jeff, Brain, Billy, Hugo, and Xavier: Thanks for the positive feedback, glad I could give something back to an awsome community!

@Jeff: wouldn't that just resize the mesh though? With the bones being left the same size? Or can I just scale the bones down afterwords since the transformation only really matters on the mesh ?
