Anyone having trouble with Tiger and OpenAL?

by Edward Gardner · in Torque Game Engine · 05/16/2005 (8:12 am) · 9 replies

Lore seems to have lost it's sound. reinstalling the OpenAL package we provide for support does not seem to fix it.

Anyone (ThinkTanks, Orbz, MB Gold?) have problems?

We're TGE 1.2/1.3ish at our core.

Have you looked at this Thread? It contains some changes I made to get the latest OpenAL working...

I admit, I had not, I just started seeing support emails from our users.

Joy, patching exes is fun :/

-edit-

So if i read that right, the latest OpenAL and TGE don;t get along...

Guess that makes sense, probably what shipped with Tiger....

I'll have to get a machine with Tiger on it and try to make those changes...

Question still stands for the folks out there with older TGE games, Joe, Justin, anyone?

Same thing has happened with someone playing Orbz as well Ed. Here's the thread.

related thread, apparently he got sound by using older openal, not sure that is a valid support approach, but it apparently works.

I got sound working by using the sound engine update resource. That might be too drastic a fix, though. Thats a lot of code to do a wholesale change on.

Add ignition to the list of things that do not work btw, libssl and libcrypto seem to have changed....

Our Tiger users have sound... see link above for the apparent fix :)

So the fix is those changes?

Which of the 3 or 4 threads :)
