Demo Downloads Fail on first try, work on subsequent tries

You may have received this notice already, but for me, game demo download links fail the first time and work on subsequent tries.

Browser: IE
Steps to reproduce:

1. I click 'Download Now' and get a 'page cannot be displayed' error.

2. I go back and try again and it works.


You might have a few folks try this from machines that have not been used to download a demo game previously.

I've played around with this one on a few different browsers, and what I've seen is that actually it just can be very slow, and sometimes not allow the connection to the ftp server at all. I've been able to randomly:

1) Grab the download file just about instantly.
2) Wait for 30-45 seconds, and then get the download.
3) Never get the download (>5 mins).

It seems to be cross-browser, and possibly just a server issue.

Somewhat related to this,

On one of my pc's I can't grab any of the downloadable files off of GG by the links, I must copy the shortcut and put it in an ftp client and then grab it from there.

@Matt: that's most likely a browser issue (not handling an ftp tag properly).

What browser/OS is it?
