(fixed) Why the 5 most recent posts were very useful

When I come to the site, after checking out the DSOTD I move to the 'Unread Posts'. From there, using Firefox, I drag all the topics I want to review to the tab bar so that each topic is in it's own tab. Then I click 'Mark All Read'. If someone or a couple someones post in the minute or two that I'm selecting the topics, I can then look over into the last 5 posts and see if it's a topic I have already selected, or one I might like to view also. Then I click on 'Mark All' again. Then while I'm reading the topics, if someone posts again, I can just look to the 'Last 5' to see if this recent post is of interest to me. It really realy is a time saving and useful feature when used in this manner. Using these habits I can be assured that when I leave the GG site I have seen EVERYTHING that is of interest to me all the way up to the second I close the browser.

I for one would really like to see the Recent 5 put back. And it wouldn't bother me if it were on the left side now instead. :-)

Another vote for the return. The whole side bar was great it let you see at a glance all the current information. And the best part was being able to view the blogs without having to hit back after each one or open each of them in a new window to get around the backing up.

Oh an one problem I noticed is if you click on development community on the home page it takes you to the Torque store intsead.

My take on "Why the 5 most recent posts were very useful" is:
When I enter the GG site, I click on the read unread posts. Now, usually there's anywhere from 2 to 8 pages of unread posts depending on how long it's been since I've marked them all as read. As I'm reading through the various pages of unread posts, I keep an eye on the 5 most recent on the right. That way, if it takes me an hour to skim through all the unread posts to the time I mark them all as read, I would have not missed ANY new posts.

The five most recent posts was always the first thing I looked at when I connect to the site. (Followed by the recent change list for the TGE, which also seems to have moved.)
