Trymedia or competitors

by Andy Schatz · in General Discussion · 05/09/2005 (5:31 pm) · 7 replies

Has anyone here had any experience with TryMedia for providing download/secutiry solutions for their games? If anyone has any opinions on them or any of their competitors I could use some advice on what to look for.

I'm creating the Try before you Buy game, Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa, which will be downloadable and possibly packaged later on.

Thanks...

We havent had any issues with it thus for for Lore Invasion, so go hard with Trymedia if you get the opportunity.

Yeah, they won the bar competition at GDC by far. What a night...

As far as working with them, I'd take the opportunity to do so :)

The shareware industry (?) talking about Trymedia as a new standard to protect your game. The product can to get the higher conversation rate if there are a
non-limited version in their hands. (limited, but only in the total available playtime, on other ways thats a full version)
A good game totally addicting the player after the first 60 minutes, so much more people are rushing into your shop (or clicking the "buy now" button) to got an unlocking code, just becouse they wanna to got "more".
Thats the way. IMO Very similar method to a professional drug dealing :D but hey, its working !

I agree. In addition to have an excellent bar at GDC, Trymedia is a great group to work with. We not only use them for our games, but we distribute a number of games via our site (www.largeanimal.com) using Trymedia's technology suite.

One thing I will say that is great about GarageGames over a company like Trymedia or its competitors is that GarageGames is more than happy and willing to help get the word out on the street through their media contacts and other relations about your game while a company like Trymedia, Shockwave or RealArcade will really only do it if you quickly become one of their top 5 games.
