SoftImage XSI Exporter

I saw on the Artists section that the SoftImage XSI exporter is "Coming Soon." Any further details on that? Such as, does "Coming Soon" mean "as soon as we can finish it up"? or does it mean "probably before the sun goes supernova"? I need to know because my company is planning to transition to SoftImage, but won't if the Torque tools won't support it.
TIA!

It's somewhere between being finished up and a supernova. Mileage may vary.

I've sent him an e-mail but received no response to the issue.
I hope I'm wrong and it will be out soon, because my team and I use XSI, and wish to directly export to Torque.

It seems to have stopped being worked on, because one of Matt Summers' posts, he said it would probably be up this weekend, referring to a week way back in March. It's now the middle of May, and no response as to the XSI Exporter matrix. I've sent him an e-mail but received no response to the issue.

Just be patient. Matt is doing a bunch of things at once and unfortunatelly doesn't have a lot of time in the day to cater to everyones demands. So just sit back and do what you can for now, Matt knows that its something that needs to be done, when it 100% ready to be released you will be informed.

Maurice, L Foster said he's really busy. My guess is it would be hard to say a release date if hes working on games as well as the exporter.

Use 3DS Max or something else, the XSI exporter is way overdue and has no updates.

I already purched XSI essentails for $2000 and I don't have another $3500 to spend on Max. I would've bought Maya but they said Xsi exporters are coming soon and the XSI gave more for the Money.

I suspect once the exporter comes out, Softimage will see a spike in foundation sales:)
Also looking forward to Torque constructor; holding off on C-Shop's new 3D-World, till I see what Constructor can do. Would be nice to eliminate the "middle-man" as far as the C-Shop Pipleline.

I am looking forward to the exporter myself. I may purchase XSI 5.0 later. That way when the exporter comes out somes bugs may already be addressed in XSI 5 before I purchase it.I suspect once the exporter comes out, Softimage will see a spike in foundation sales:)

Matt posted that the exporter might be in the hands of testers soon, like this week. So I'd guess it's close...

Has anybody heard anything about this recently? I thought maybe there might be a progress report somewhere.-Keith

If anyone has immediate need for the exporter please feel free to email me and provide some examples of your work. Right now we prefer to work with testers who are actually using XSI rather than people that just want to play with a new toy. :)

Is the exporter ready for xsi 5.0 or for the previous (4.2) version? I'd like to give it a try, either way; see my ORKVALE....post for some example of work (for now) :).Can't wait.

We are using XSI too and it would be a big point to have an exporter. If you need some work, drop me a mail and told me, what kind of work you are looking for (meshes, animation, skeletting, bones-animation, actions, lightning, cameras a.s.o)

If and when there is news you will see an appropriate .plan/blog, forum thread and/or news article on this. Until then you unfortunately need to patiently wait.
