A single and limited muliplayer RPG with an endless world to explore on each of four dimensional planes, each of which is set in a different season/era?
it's far out i know, but it seems that something far out is needed in the industry these days...

If I picked a box off of the shelf, read the back and it said that, I'd put it back.
Why?
I have no idea what the game is about.

No. What's the point? Where's the story, the meaningfulness of my investment of time and effort in playing the game?

The new prince of persia makes a decent job of implementing time travel by using portals that shift you around. If you wanted something where you could choose to go to any time i reckon that would be a LOT more difficult, especially in multiplayer mode. Without trying to sound offensive, at the moment i think all you have is a gimmick rather than a solid game idea.

If you would ask me "Could it work to have a single and limited muliplayer RPG set in an endless world to explore on each of four dimensional planes, each of which is set in a different season/era?" then the question would be easier to answer. My answer would be: Yes, it would work, if the setting was interesting and convincing, and the game was fun and entertaining. But the same answer would go for any setting...
It would be interesting to hear if you have any ideas of the actual interactive part, the PLAY. A good way of evaluating if you have good gameplay or not is to take your gameplay, and put it in several different settings. If you can see the game being just as fun to play in each different setting, then you're on to something good, otherwise, just go back to the drawing board...

As others have pointed out, the main problem is the asking of the question "Would you play this?" followed by a very brief description of a game setting. If you would ask me "Could it work to have a single and limited muliplayer RPG set in an endless world to explore on each of four dimensional planes, each of which is set in a different season/era?" then the question would be easier to answer. I think RPG's need 3 important things...
Excellent storyline.
A character the player can connect with,
and Gameplay that does not stagnate.
Things like gaining levels should to me never invovle hours of running around killing repetitive monsters. That should be more of an option for people who want to make the quests/missions easier. Yet not something that should be done to make them possible at all to complete.

Season/era? I dunno an RPG where your character got shifted to different era's would be interesting. Reminds me of Vampire the Masquerade where you start in the medieval ages, and wind up in modern times as a vampire.I think RPG's need 3 important things...

Maybe you should explain to us how the gameplay works with this as you've described. Answer why you would design it in this way. Generally, if you just say it's the same huge world X 4, it sounds pretty cheesy and uncreative. Go into some more detail on how this works for the story and gameplay and you may have something worth looking into.- Ronixus

You get thrown into a situation and and need clues to solve a final problem. Say you get thrown back in time or something?

If I assume you mean some kind of huge world to explore that is close to life, not really... but something off beat, something different. Would be interesting. A game where you explore different dimensions or times would be great. I dont think there are enough decent adventure games. You get thrown into a situation and and need clues to solve a final problem. Say you get thrown back in time or something?

You are out of phase, people seems to move slowly to you, you seem to move slowly to them.
There are other people who have travelled back who are at the same phase as you.
To normal people there you are like ghosts/strange paranormal beings.

Or.. say you get thrown back in time, but not quite correctly. You are out of phase, people seems to move slowly to you, you seem to move slowly to them.
There are other people who have travelled back who are at the same phase as you.
To normal people there you are like ghosts/strange paranormal beings.

I think there another interpretation to "four dimensional planes". In a fantasy RPG setting, this could easily reffer to "earth, air, fire water", rather than "depth, width, height, time".

Your game description really doesn't tell us what the game is supposed to be like.

take a look over at the site, if Ryan's description here is not enough (it really is not much Ry)
i mean if you're really curious and want to know a lil about what it's all about, visit the site at the link he mentions...
hey... i kinda like the idea of an open 3D virtual world... an expansive 3, and even better 4 dimensional place to explore... but you're gonna have to add a lot of interactivity to keep my interest seeing that there is no immediate, instantly gratifying or short term satisfying goal...
i think that what some of theopinions above where saying was that there is no 'hook' in the game you propose... nothing to grab you and keep you going... now if the game came with a 3D VR headset, that might be enticing or compelling enough of a hook (providing it was inexpensive enough) to get everyone interested... but you've gotta understand... we, and worse, the general game playing audience, have become a jaded lot... we wanna have something to chase, find, kill, or chase us so we can survive...
i like your idea... it just appears to be missing that one single element... ahhhh, you'll get it all together and working Ryan... good luck...
...
question: are you using the irrlicht engine Ryan... the textures and the female character look familar...
...
lol @ Dreamer... that's the same exact thing that popped into my mind when i read this... movement through the 4th dimension... actuall it's the 6th and 7th dimension that describe the continuum that we call time... but lets not digress too far fromt he original topic... i could go on for weeks on this... :)

Hey... after all, what's the difference between Ryan's game and life itself... what's the point, you ask... i say, you're right, what's the point... of both...take a look over at the site, if Ryan's description here is not enough (it really is not much Ry)
