My checklist to get Materials to export properly from Blender

I'm sure there are other things and other much more knowledgable people to say them than me but anyway........
This is a personal checklist I use to troubleshoot why a texture that appears in Blender might not appear in Torque.
Since I thought someone somewhere might find this useful some day I decided to post this list.
I make no guarentee anything here is correct.
Note: I use this primarily with vehicles (hence the data block structure near the bottom)
**************************************************************
---My Blender DTS Exporting checklist for textures.---
Material name matches the texture file's name.
Blender's first texture slot is filled with the texture
"TexFaces" button depressed
Map Input set to UV coords
***Make sure box below material name in the Material tab has the correct name of it's parent (look for an extra 1 or .001 on the end)
Texture file might need to be "loaded" rather than "reloaded" to find the most up-to-date image
---My Blender DTS Exporting checklist for vehicles---
Datablock : Details32a
->Datablock : Shape
--- ->Datablock :Col0 (Torque will complain if this doesn't start with "Col")
---------->Datablock : Cube:0
-------------->Geometry : Cube:0
->Datablock: Cylinder
----->Geometry :
-----------> material
---------------> texture
Tips:
If changing the texture, don't forget to change the texture name to reflect this.

It is possible and once you know how, it isn't a problem, it is quite easy.

It can be tricky - I can't spend the time now but I get back from work in about 10 hours - I'll see if I can help you then.It is possible and once you know how, it isn't a problem, it is quite easy.

Firstly check out this great Blender UV mapping video tutorial (large download but well worth it - there are other mirrors and a torrent of it too)
www.ibiblio.org/bvidtute/mytut/uvtut.avi
Then when exporting make sure your material is the same as your texture name (just without the .png or .jpg ending)
In the image below the circle labelled "A" is the texture file I'm using. You need to make sure the material ("B" in the image) is the same name without the extension.
Note this is a screen shot from 2.37a - buttons for materials and textures slightly changed from previous versions.

Apologies for resurrecting a really old thread but my problem is similar in that I am not getting the texture I've applied to my model appearing in Torque. I've actually followed your tutorials Nigel - although perhaps you aren't even active on GG anymore, I'm not sure.
Anyhow, if there is someone else who reads this that may know what I've done wrong that would be appreciated.
I have Blender 2.48a and the exporter 0.964. Everything shows up fine in Blender and originally before I had touched the materials in Torque my object was basically very shiny. I decided to add a single texture to one of the faces on the object and export it. Following Nigel's helpful tutorials I did so, and (despite him having an older version at the time of recording them) I pretty much figured out all the settings and where Blender had moved them to in my newer version. I also found another post of Nigel's in here that had a sort of DTS Exporter checklist and followed that as best as I am able currently.
I'm not an artist btw, so please speak to me as if talking to a 5 year old child. ;) I have uploaded an image of my Blender materials and texture settings here:

Any help greatly appreciated - I will keep searching so long. :)
Edit: Just noticed that in ShowTool it appears aware of the materials I've used as per:
But it doesn't display them, nor in-game. This is a second objective I made (just a silly cube) to see if I botched something.

Haha, apparently I don't know what "to the power of 2" means. :) It's showing up now which is good, although it does appear to texture the entire object, despite me only adding the texture to once face... but that's ok, as I am sure I can figure that out. :)

I am really new to torque (and to blender as well) and have a problem with getting textured .dts files into torque. I tried to acomplish the tutorial on http://www.junkyardcat.net/blender/gusuvmap.htm but failed. I managed to export a .dts file and to create an apropriate .jpg file for the uv-mapping, but imported into the torque game engine, the texture is missing. I worked through the tutorial a few times and used the checklist above but found no errors.
I put the files in the web. If someone would sacrifice a little bit of his spare time to look through them, i would be really gratefull.

Thanks for your efforts.
