Hey Vernon, let me know how that card is, I was thinking about buying one

I've been sitting for few years watching my flatmates play top games, and now I'm playing them I can run them all on basically top settings (farcry, doom 3 - don't have half-life 2 yet).
The card I got was a gigabyte "turbo force" edition. I hate gimicky names, but from what I can tell it has a higher clock? speed than the normal 6600's and it has a passive heatsink which is very nice. If I'd had the cash I would have gone for a 6600GT, but i was cutting it fine as I was buying several other components (new pci-e motherboard and chip to go with it etc).
I've only had it roughly 4 days, but I'm thinking its the best purchase I've made in a long time (I did have a radeon 7000 series card though - so you can imagine the difference its made).

I cannot emphasise enough how happy I am with it. For me price was an issue, and it was just the perfect price for performance balance.I've been sitting for few years watching my flatmates play top games, and now I'm playing them I can run them all on basically top settings (farcry, doom 3 - don't have half-life 2 yet).

I'm going to build a new system and I am trying to figure out what a good, affordable system would be.
I was thinking about a asus sli board with a amd 64 3200 939 chip with a gig of memory and, of course, a new video card

Awesome. With the new motherboard and stuff, what size is the proc and how much and what type of memory are you using.I'm going to build a new system and I am trying to figure out what a good, affordable system would be.

With the motherboard I didn't get an SLI enabled one, I went for a Gigabyte model, nforce 4 again not too expensive. (GA-K8NF-9). I felt comfortable knowing I was getting my graphics card and motherboard from the same manufacturer, and both using chips from nvidia.
Chucked in two 512mb stick of ddr ram, and my graphics card, and also got a new 400w power supply to be on the safe side and I was away laughing for not too much outlay.
I am starting to get hooked on shaders already - have downloaded and played with a bunch of tools from nvidia (fx composer etc), and this all coincides with a weeks holiday I have so I'm quite content and happy atm :)

I went with an AMD athlon 64, bottom of the line socket 939 chips (3000+), and I've got room to upgrade in the future if I wanted to.With the motherboard I didn't get an SLI enabled one, I went for a Gigabyte model, nforce 4 again not too expensive.
