Looking for feedback on logo

Hey all.
I'm not much of an artist but i've been working on getting the ideas from my head onto paper for most of the morning. This is what my company logo is looking like and I would like some input on it if you all don't mind. It was actually a pretty fun process :) Using my new wacom tablet, I first sketched out what was in my head in a very rough and ugly form, then I took more time and drew it all out using brushes in photoshop making it look pretty close to final with color and what not, then I used font and other tools to make a final version. It was a learnign experience :)
Anyway, the name of the company is On Target Games. Heres what I came up with:

The concept was that we are on target for fun. Fun is the target.

As it stands right now, the logo is pretty static. i think a target being incorperated with the actual name of the dev group would be a better option. I understand what you were going for, but its a little convoluted as it stands right now.

What do you mean by static?

Maybe you could use concentric circles (bullseye) instead of crosshairs. It also seems to me like you're trying to eliminate fun.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to keep your designs simple, and your linework clean. Right now you've got a whole lot of texture on the crosshairs (dots and lines). Now, you can never think too far ahead, so consider that the crosshairs currently won't translate well at all to a smaller size, and certainly not to print media (say, business cards, and letterheads). Clean lines and solid colors are the order of the day, unless you plan on spending a whole lot of money on full-color business cards. ;)

Thanks. I guess I have lots to learn. The original version was less fancy but it looked so BORING that I just had to spice it up lol.

Anyway, some suggestions.

It's easy to get good pictures with mnimal flashy stuff. I looked directly at the picture right when I came to the thread, and thought the same way as others. It would be better if you would have added the name of your company right below or in some fashion around the picture. Another thing I noticed was there was too much white. You could create a neat target recticle with nice smooth lines that fill the entire area, with your company name bending around, or something. Make the fun target be more interesting, I'm not sure how.Anyway, some suggestions.

Perhaps a target (the bullseye targets... red and white), with fun in the middle.

Using a cartoonish bullseye target might work better than the sniper scope look. Little more light hearted and stylized. I did two quick mockups using one to show what I mean.

There are a ton more rules. Id love to do some designs myself... the crosshair could end up being a really fun element in and of itself... but Im unfortunatly not at my own computer right now.

Those are better, but still way too busy. For example, the think outline and "bubbly" form give a cartoonish feel. The arrow/target are of a completely different aesthetic. Remember, design (of anything) is not about what you can add but what you can take away. Its kind of a cliche, but its entirely true. Dont use two aesthetic styles, you only need one. If you have a shadow on one part, have it on the whole thing or nothing at all. Consistancy will (usually) lead to simplicity. There are a ton more rules. The main problem I see with the original logo is that it appears weak. By that I mean it is not striking, the font is too thin, as is the sight. A logo needs to be strong and iconographic.

Other than that it won't scale to well (I think, didn't try it).
