How to use vtk decimator?

I would like to use vtk decimator (cause blender's one is not so useful) but it doesn't work, i've installed vtk and ported the python wrapoers in .blender/scripts. Now what?
James U saysonly to get (optionally) vtk but not how to use it.

Help please.

I honestly have no idea what that is supposed to do. I have it installed though.... As far as I know, an explination for it simply does not exist.

I'd like to learn something about it too... it looks like a decimator which can preserve your uv mapping, but it's just my guess. Is that correct? and what about vertex groups/weights ?
