.dif creation in linux

by Nicholas Peshman · in General Discussion · 04/07/2005 (8:58 am) · 6 replies

I was wondering if it is possible to create buildings (ie the .dif format) from inside linux. I have tried using quark with wine with no luck. or is there another way maybe with blender. I say that someone said there was an exporter but only found the one for the .dts format. Also is it possible to create an entire game with all assests from inside linux? if so what tools are they. This is seriously what is holding me back from purchasing the Torque engine so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thx Jovian

I think that Radiant runs on linux, but the license is somewhat expensive for commercial use.

Benoit Touchette is working on a dif exporter for Blender. GIMP can create/edit images. Pick your favorite editor/IDE for code creation. Buy Torque, be happy.

If you have a copy of Windows, you could try using Win4Lin. It's what I use to run QuArK (until Torque Constructor comes out that is!). Then we will have a native editor. :-)

Thanks all for your replys I think I might wait until the exporter or the constructor comes out. Any rough ideas on the time frames for those?
