But I guess their finances went through the roof, they broke up, moved to other parts of the country, and I never saw them again. But I like Delphi better than I do C++. If Borland packages C++ into Delphi 2005, I plan to purchaase that language, otherwise I'll hold off until Delphi 2006.

My last version of Delphi is version 4.0 standard. If I hadn't been led to believe in C++ as the only game programming language, I would have enjoyed programming in Pascal. The thing is, when learning programming, everyone was hot about Basic, then along came C++, and I began programming in that. Then I finally bought Delphi, only because a small group of people had mentioned it, and I thought that I was going to be paid for the work I was going to do.But I guess their finances went through the roof, they broke up, moved to other parts of the country, and I never saw them again. I once learned Turbo Pascal 5.0, it was new at the time, I'm a little hazy here does anyone remember what year that would have been?

Delphi is a sensational tool for business software, but there are plenty of people using it for graphics and games. There is even an open source openGL library which works nicely with ODE.

There is a list of commercial games that are written in Delphi or Pascal over @ www.savagesoftware.com.au/DelphiGamer/games.php

LOL Man, Talk about feeling OLD. I havent used Pascal since my college days in 83 - 84. I didnt even think they had an OS that would still run it. Is there a new release out there for 2K? It was much easier to work with than C IMHO. But then I started with BASIC on an OLD A2000 Mainframe in 72.

Not really wanting to start a language war, but for Win32 or even Linux Application development, I have yet to use a more productive language and development environment than Delphi/Kylix. If I use C/C++ or even VB, things just take way too long.
Of course your milage may vary.

Yes the latest version of the Delphi IDE is Delphi 2005 aka Borland Developer Studion 3 - http://www.borland.com/delphi/ . The IDE supports Delphi for Win32, Delphi for .NET and also C#.Not really wanting to start a language war, but for Win32 or even Linux Application development, I have yet to use a more productive language and development environment than Delphi/Kylix.
