XNA Studio will be out within the year or two.
Basically, it will include all the code you'd need to adapt Xbox LIVE and a lot of other goodies to your game.
What I'm really thinking this may do is open up indies to getting on the Xbox 2 and other platforms. Build your game through XNA studio (or only use parts, such as the LIVE portions), and if your game is good enough on the PC, you could get noticed by a publisher and without much difficulty at all, port it on over.
What are your thoughts on this? Its also interesting if XNA Studio comes built in with graphics libraries, and even a physics engine....which I've heard something like that.
What all have you heard and how do you think it will affect indies?

VS 05 is under $800 for a professional license, so its really not that expensive.

Well, according to what J Allard has said (MS's spokesman for anything Xbox these days), it will be included with Visual Studio 2005, or something like that. VS 05 is under $800 for a professional license, so its really not that expensive.

XNA Studio is one part of the XNA initiative. Another part of that initiative is the converging of PC and XBox development libraries, but no time frames have been given. It has been publicly stated that the next version of DirectX will not be shipped until Longhorn though.

It is not an engine or library or anything of the sort.XNA Studio is one part of the XNA initiative. So sometime in late 2035 then?

That would be a GOOD thing... Then people would start using OpenGL and stop making windows only games... I know someone is going to flame me for this one but who cares.

Its proabably the opposite of that. People will start using DX only as it is the M$ product of choice and thus XNA would probably focus on it.

I meant that if another version of DirectX doesn't get released until 2035.. then people will have to switch over to OpenGl...
