CFG file for Milkshape Plus

I have noticed that for most animations you do not need to use the .cfg file when exporting .dsq files. I have found that I may need to use one for the look animation (the animation where you determine the min and max hieght that the arms will point).
When I first export the animation the arms move fine but they armor (that was modeled seperately) does not move exactly with the arm in the Torque Show Tool. It also appears that there are nodes that were created for the armor that are moving it seperately?!?
When I use the .cfg file however I am starting to get varied results depending on what options I try. I actually have made it worse in most cases where the body armor from the rest of the body is not even connected to the body?!?
I was just wondering if anyone out there has seen this issue before and may know how to fix.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: to clarify I just wanted to say that the armor is not being mounted it is actually part of the dts shape. it was modeled seperately and placed on it.
