Hi, trying to grab a current copy of TSE. Looks like WinCVS no longer matches your online tutorial due to UI changes.
There's no longer any place to put user id & password that I can find.
I have the login setting so:
me@cvs.garagegames.com:/cvs/tse

I don't know what problems you've had but it has worked for me with the latest version.

Wasn't saying the latest version won't work, only that it doesn't match the instructions given on the documentation. Wasted 30 mins trying to guess how to make it work.

Well, I followed the instructions, and they worked perfectly. If you did get it fixed, why not tell us what was wrong with what the Doc's say so that they can be fixed?

The problem is the WinCVS provided by GG is different from the one hosted at www.wincvs.org. The instructions should say you MUST use the GG hosted version if you want to use their instructions.I provided that info here:

WinCVS.org, as Richard mentioned, has now a newer version of WinCVS up for donwload.
They changed some menu option location and while it doesn't look like a big deal it actually stopped me from having a straight forward setup.
I thought, ho well, it is only a matter of setting GG values up even if the input fields are under different tabs, but for some reason it didn't work. So after a few attempts I decided to go the easy way and get hold of the older version for which GG wrote a fool-proof help section about.
Also, for what I need to use it for, the old version will be just fine.
Thanks Richard :)

I have created a setup doc for the new version of WinCVS if you are interested in it. Although the use of CVS isnt recommended anymore.

I use it, and I like it.
Remember, you don't have to take my suggestion.

If you must use CVS, I suggest TortoiseCVS. The good thing about it is that it shows icons in the Windows explorer view to show status.I use it, and I like it.

If you want to post a tut on using tortoise.......... Well, I'll be happy for one.
All the tuts should suggest the user zip up the torque folder once it is downloaded, and use that instead of downloading it all over again unless there has been som updates. They might already, I havent looked......

As for Torque CVS access, it's really not something to worry about... We're committed to releasing installers for new Torque versions.
And, as far as Tortoise goes, I use it daily with great joy. Just type everything in manually and you'll be fine.

you can try to look for the options around the modified menues...
or if you had no patience like me... I unistalled the latest WinCVS and downloaded the older version hosted by GG... link from the getting started online documentation
the old version works fine(so far)
I hope this helps
