Earth is doomed, the sun is blacking out. Special forces are sent to find a new planet. They crash and have to fend of aliens. and foil there plans to attack earth then hijack an alien ship go back to earth and prepare them for war and send refugees to a neerbie spacestation
Is it a good idea?
and what should H.O.P.E. stand for?

Your just going around minding your own buisnes you get a fuel leak and crash on a baren planet similar to mars. weird things start happening you find mutated humans that are trying to kill you you kill them you find a city of them turns out it was a failed planet colonizing project gone terribly wrong and you try to escape and keep all your crew members alive and find any survivors(8 year old with a rocket launcherold guy with a tommy gun and more)

Well, I haven't played Halo or Halo2, don't know anything about it. The idea of choosing different species--well, my inspiration comes from Aliens vs. Predator, in which a player could select between three species of course. I always liked that idea--not everyone is in love with humanity, and even if you are, having an option to play as something else adds dimension to the game and vastly increases replayability, I think.
I'm also thinking of having an option in which a player can still play as a human but be against humanity--a traitor/collaborator type on the alien side. Well, there's so many features and options I'd like to include, but ultimately time and resources will determine how much I can put in it. Still, it would fit with the story and remain plausible--before Earth was obliterated, the remaining nations joined to form an empire in order to channel efforts into evacuation on a global scale, and the result wasn't very pretty (empires rarely are--this one was has many parallels to Imperial Rome); it's harsh and brutal, and not everyone loves the Empire, merely tolerating it as a means to an end (survival for the human species). So it would be realistic to have dissidents wanting to break it apart.
Thanks for your comments =)
Dee,
I'm not sure how many other games being developed might be like ours--not too many, I hope ;)
Mine's more of a space RPG from a 3rd person perspective, with some team-based stuff also.

After some time, they discover there are inhabitants that live under the ground. They are similar to the creatures in body but different in head. The humans make alliances with the inhabitants. It turns out that the creatures on the surface that are similar are actually the same with some kind of protective mask. Apparently there was a war on that planet also and they let loose their most distructive bombs and destroyed everything. The had to live under ground since because they would be killed by the air.
Soon the humans start to get sick from the air on the planet at the same time the inhabitants are able to surface because the air is getting better. Turns out the same air elements that caused the inhabitants to seek shelter underground is the oxygen that humans need. As the planet started to repair itself the air became toxic to humans and better for the inhabitants.
The only way to save the planet for the humans is to continue to explode these bombs and put oxygen into the air. This however will kill the aliens.
You could choose which ever side you wanted to be on as the war insues in a struggle for the planet.

How about a game in which humans leave Earth to find another planet to inhabit becuase they have destroyed their own. Upon finding a suitable planet, they start to colonize. The planet has obviously gone thru some kind of war itself, however, no one seems to inhabit. There are creatures on the planet that cause disturbances and fights. After some time, they discover there are inhabitants that live under the ground. Human Operation for Perpetual Existence would be a good civil war game

Design
H.O.P.E. is a generational RTS/RPG/Simulation title that takes the best parts of The Sims, Harvest Moon, Darkstalkers, Phantasy Star 4, StarCraft, Devil May Cry and Katamari Damacy and puts it all in a single game where we control several generations of humans caught in a world of Resident Evil-esque pathogens which allow cfor quick and dirty mutation. Our Parents aren't capable of sexual reproduction after the mutation, but the changes that have taken place within them will allow for the next generation (those they infect) to take some of their traits and some of the original traits and evolve.
