What tool do you use?

At last I am TGE owner and with couple of friends I am forming team.
We have licenses for MilkShape, but we are aware of its limitations and we are considering about buying some other tool for more complex shapes (characters and animals).
100 (around 125$) is our top for the moment. What do you use in that range and what do you recomend? Price and easy of use above all.
P.S. We have Blender too, but it scares us.

If you consider using blender PLEASE get some good tutorials becouse without them you will not get anything done in blender. Tutorials can be found at www.blender3d.com or a manual at www.blender.org
If you want to ask something about blender or need help using it go to: www.elysiun.com ( one of the popular blender forums )

Then later when you get enough money you can decide if you want to switch to a program like Gamespace,Truespace, 3ds Max...etc.

If there is several of you... one of you should try learning Blender if the next step is out of your price range. Blender does have alot of tutorials and they have two or three books out on how to use Blender. Between the forums at their site and GG, you should have good support. Once one of you learn it, then they can teach the others on your team how to use it. It's just like everyone with Quark... people don't realize how powerful it is to they spend the time to learn it. Then later when you get enough money you can decide if you want to switch to a program like Gamespace,Truespace, 3ds Max...etc.

I don't own Blender, but i hear its good. Like Mark Barner, I use a version of GameSpace called TrueSpace. Its an upper end product of GameSpace, but without exporters to the Torque engine. It (or GameSpace) is the next best thing to Blender.

Give 3D Canvas a shot http://www.amabilis.com/ they have a free version, feels alot like gamespace and has all the features you could want except exporter to DTS. however you can export to .x and then import with milkshape to export out. The Pro version is like $69.99 and has a few more features. I have played with gamespace and 3d canvas and they have a very similar feel as far as the modeling goes.

I use a multitude of tools! When working on my cars, most likely a set of metric wrenches, sockets, and some screwdrivers. If Im at work, anything from a crowbar to a soldering iron. When Im cleaning my house, vacuum, mop, scrub brushes, rags, and various cleaning agents. If Im working on my project, I use Milkshape and havent had any problems with it yet, but I also havent modelled characters with it yet. Some have called my coworkers tools before, so I guess I could say I use them to get a large job done, but who knows....

Well, in keeping with the subject line of the thread.....I use a multitude of tools! When working on my cars, most likely a set of metric wrenches, sockets, and some screwdrivers.
