Just wait until you hear and see about some of the jaw-dropping and eye-popping things we'll be showcasing at GDC. The Torque Game Development Platform is redefining awesome.

Haha... glad we're not setting expectations too high or anything. I love marketing guys... right after posting something like that, they lean over to a dev and go "you guys got some cool s*** to show off, right?" ;)

Nah Benjamin is right, this year should be insane. Catch you all at the booth!

Damn, kids, I wish I could have gotten out there... All you at GDC make sure to take pictures and post plans like its your job.

Especially those who are actually GG employees. You know. Cause it *is* your job.

Hi everyone,

I've been absent on here for quite a while. I've been testing Battlefield 2 at EARS, after I just got done with Armies of Exigo (wrote the scenario editor tutorial doc that shipped with the US release, not bad for my first QA job ;) which I tested as well.

I have been working at EA insane hours combined with my commute from San Jose to EA, plus working on my own games in what little spare time I have left.

Ok, here's the point of this post:

I'm at the GDC working again as a volunteer this year.

I look forward to meeting with the GGs starting tomorrow :)

For those of you that would like to see what AGFRAG has been working on, check out www.agfrag.com and download our prototype demos of Circuit Pyramid(TM) and CAEH(TM) Game Collection. The links are right on the front page.

I would really like to get the GG community feedback on the game, and we need help getting Circuit Pyramid to compile and run on Mac OSX. So I hope you all check it out, and give us your feedback!

For any GGs here at the GDC today, I'm off but attending a tutorial. I'm wearing a blue and white striped long sleeve dress shirt that unbuttoned with a "OLD SCHOOL"white t-shirt on thats show a red Atari-like joystick on the front. So I hope to run into some of you.

I would leave my daily updates like I use to do on here for every GDC, but as I've gotten to spend time with more industry people, I can not invade their privacy, so to speak, as a professional courtesy and I've been insanely busy trying to keep up with all the AGFRAG stuff I have to do, plus my GDC CA duties and attending what I want.

Thank you all for you time,

-Joseph A. Hatcher Jr.

Hey,

For those of you that are indie developers, stop by the indie meeting at 9 PM tonight (Wednesday, March 9th).

It will be at the bar in the "W hotel" (a few blocks away from the GDC).

Last year's meetup was really fun.

Hope to see you there,

Some pictures from Day One of the Expo show, crappy cell phone camera style, but we've been so freaking swamped that no one has had time to take many pictures, I know I've seen a few cameras floating around so It'll be interesting to see. :)

Ben Giving his TSE Water & Terrain demo at the Ati Theatre, both drew huge crowds, it's all the shiny I think:

I think the rest of these are just random shots before the expo hall opened on the first day, been a bit swamped ever since to really take too many pictures here or there. :)

Been a lot of fun showing off a lot of the stuff we do and just meeting a lost of associate I didn't meet at IGC, personally, I love IGC much better, GDC is neat, but it's a whole different beast, and for the average developer/artist like myself not into marketting or business, you don't get that same sort of fun feeling of just shooting the shit about games and not just business like you get at IGC, but hey, the night life is fun. Lots of open bars make it worth it, minus the hangovers of course, but still I can't wait to get back to eugene and the quiet life, not a huge city person myself. :)

Highlights of the trip so far have been seeing Herb's Cycletown, the nightlife, and Lionhead studio's ATI Presentaiton, they are a really awesome group of guys, one of the few game developers I met who weren't trying to sell me something. Also, met lots of cool industry guy in general who are just really cool people, Ben Mathis from Mythic, the guy who does the Voice acting for a lot of the shows on Cartoon Network like the venture bros, things like that, though his name escapes me currently. Lots of cool guys buried under the ocean of businessmen. :-)

Dude, JoshW in that last pic is making the extreme angry face. He's a dangerous guy, watch out. :)
We never found out what happened to that one intern Zach who made a Your-mom joke about him...
