How Many Attachments to a Player?

by Will Harrison · in General Discussion · 03/04/2005 (10:53 am) · 5 replies

Is there a suggested limit to the amount of attachments you can make to a player model in stock TGE?

For example, would it be practical to have an attachment to pretty much every limb/extremity?

Like Helmet to Head, Shoulder Armor to Shoulders, Gauntlets to Arms, Boots to Feet, and so on.....

Is TGE, out of the box, designed for this amount/kind of attaching or is attaching intended for only weapons and perhaps mounting a banner/flag to the back of the player, etc.?

Also, I'm concerned if every attachment will shadow correctly...?

Is there a significant performance hit for having characters built this way, or is it not a problem whatsoever?

Thanks, it will help me alot to know this. :)

Pretty sure the mount points cap out at 8 total (0-7) without code changes.

You will also find yourself in trouble if you need to bend these attachments, for instance when wearing body armour.

There is a resource somewhere that allows up to 32 (?) i think mount points. As to the shadows, i'm pretty sure they do....weapon shadows show up fine, and they are mounts.

Thanks everyone.

I think I will make the hair/helmet attachable and also the item/weapon in the left and right hand... and everything else will be modeled in directly.
