.antikill

by Eric Lavigne · in General Game Discussion · 03/01/2005 (7:20 am) · 12 replies

New clan .antikill created to oppose the .kill clan. Like underscore, we think that clans are meant to compete, and that one clan is not enough. Our name is a bit more descriptive of our purpose though.

So far, .kill members seem to be evenly divided between...
1)Welcoming the competition and enjoying a good fight.
2)Insulted by our existence and complaining when we kill them.

Members of .antikill hunt down members of .kill at every opportunity (most of the time .kill members do the same to us). Don't take it personally; we're just looking for some good competition. As far as I can tell, .kill was created to fight against other clans. Now you get your chance.

So far, members include:
lord
smoky
roar

Okay I understand your main idea of .antikill but two things that would be greatly apriciated

1) ive played against your members and they are far from courteous, saying that the first thing you said about .kill members "1)Welcoming the competition and enjoying a good fight." is a lie and that my members are disrespecting your members (which may be true, and if so that counts a demotion because the first rule of .kill is courtesy, so if my members are being sore losers or winners just tell me and i'll have a talk with them)

and 2) if you could change you name to something evenly remotely respectfull it would be great, I can see how my members would be "Insulted by our existence" because of your name, I find it extremly anoying to enter a server and see that there are people there that are insulting everything i have worked for, trying to make zap a better place by making it more courteous. And im sure im not alone.

The clan is created to oppose the .kill clan. The name is appropriate for that reason. If you dislike our purpose then that is another matter.

>is a lie and that my members are disrespecting your members
I made no such statement in my post, but since you brought it up...

>if so that counts a demotion because the first rule of .kill is courtesy
Time to demote yourself. You said in game that we are all idiots. I think it had something to do with our name choice, though I'm not clear on that.

I really don't mind if you want to insult us, actually. We are just looking for some fun. Anyone up for a 3 vs 3?

Right now it is only the .kill clan that is scoring point for their ranking (most of them, because many of them have registered their game). If the people with .antikill would register their copies of Zap!, then their scores would also be counting towards rankings.

Shouldn't a clan named "antikill" be all about peaceful resolution of conflict? like trying to negotiate with the other team for their flags, or staging a sit-in by surrounding themselves with mines and blowing themselves up if the violence continues.

I'm BlackFire from .kill. I haven't met any antikills yet though. Yes, lots of members, me among them, would probably like a rival team to have some friendly compitition against. But, and though it hasn't happened to me yet, as you stated, antikill members hunt down .kill members at every oppertunity, it would be rather annoying. Sure, compitition its okay, but sometimes I would like to just go into a room and play a game without the .kill, antikill, and "normal" member thing.

And, also, about the
">if so that counts a demotion because the first rule of .kill is courtesy
Time to demote yourself. You said in game that we are all idiots."
part. Either way, it doesn't work. If you do not allow people to speak their mind and state thier opinions, they will become annoyed. If you DO state all your opinions, it will them make who you say them about become annoyed. Its also the first admendment.
"Freedom of press, petition, speech, and assembly" (or something like that of the same purpose)
But then again, if you state every negetive opinion, then it will be total chaos with lots of angry people.

You said that you are just looking for some friendly competition. Does friendly competition involve hunting down all .kill members at every chance possible?

Edit: Nevermind, please ignore the last comment, I reread the posts and saw my mistake. So Sorry. But then again, you can't start hunting .kill overall because a person or two from .kill is hunting you down. You probabaly would hunt down who it was that targeted you, but its unreasonable to hunt down other .kill when they did nothing to you.

Yeah that does make sense :) I haven't been able to think of any peaceful ways to win a zap game though, except maybe switching to the winning team.

>Yes, lots of members, me among them, would probably like a rival
>team to have some friendly compitition against.
Name the terms :)

>sometimes I would like to just go into a room and play a game
>without the .kill, antikill, and "normal" member thing
Makes sense. Just let me know when you're not up to it. I can't speak for the rest of the clan though.

>allow people to speak their mind ... Freedom of press ... if you
>state every negetive opinion, then it will be total chaos...
Sounds like you gave this a lot of thought. More than me, at least. I'm not

>Does friendly competition involve hunting down all .kill members

Yes :)
Maybe this is confusing... I don't think killing is a big deal in this game. You die and you reappear. You usually reappear rather close to where you died, with more energy, with more hitpoints... no personal loss. I fight for fun in zap. I tend to assume that everyone has this attitude in one way or another. The friendly part? All in the attitude. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad. The person getting hunted has the same opportunity for challenging fun as the person doing the hunting.

>But then again, you can't start hunting .kill overall because
>a person or two from .kill is hunting you down.
Someone from .kill is hunting me? I didn't notice. Since I'm hunting them, the difference between them defending themselves or hunting me back is kinda hard to determine. Really, this isn't about revenge. Just having fun.

Pretty soon teams are going to start having turf wars over server space!

I'm just going to start pretending my team has members. Personally, I think adding one character to the beginning of your name is less complicated than adding nine to the end, but maybe that's just me. Yo smoke! Join _!!!

Thanks, but I'm happy with antikill. You sure you don't want to come over to the dark side? ^^

My "clear side" existed before the dark side. I declare my philosophical dominance over all zap! alliances!!
