Right to use the Demo Art?

by MrPhil (Philip Ludington) · in Torque Game Builder · 02/28/2005 (10:14 pm) · 10 replies

I was wondering what the rule was on using the art and images included with T2D and the demos? Am I free to use, say, the ship sprite in my game and/or modifiy it for my purposes?

I believe that the art is the property of the individual artists. Could be wrong, but that's the way I treat artwork until told by the artists directly.

It's a good question. I know that in a lot of cases people are pretty free about stuff like this with demo graphics. But Like David said, It would depend on the style. Even If GG said it was cool I would like to know how the artists would really feel about it

There's nothing anywhere that specifies this, so I just assume that any artwork released is free to use with your own demos. Of course I would never think of using any of it commercially without express permission from the artist who created the image(s)

Well here's the thing guys, some of that art is used in the particle effects. Does that mean we can't use any of the effects included either?

Shared Effects Idea See, I'm not sure on the particle effects graphics, but the image data such as sprites, backgrounds, etc, I usually fault on the side of error so as not to step on anyone's toes.

You can use the art in the demos as you see fit, but we'd ask that you prominently and appropriately credit the artists involved with each demo.

Thanks for asking guys.
